Up your PS4 storage to 6TB with Nyko's Data Bank

When the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles launched back in 2013, their built-in 500GB of storage was impressive and incredibly useful. But now, after a year and a half of downloading games as opposed to buying discs, those hard drives are filling up fast. Both Microsoft and Sony know this, as a 1TB Xbox One model was just announced, and the same is expected of PS4 in an announcement at E3 next week. But why stop at only 1TB? Instead, you can upgrade your PS4 to 6TB of storage with Nyko's new Data Bank accessory.

The Data Bank acts as an adapter that takes the place of the PS4's internal 2.5-inch hard drive. It makes the console a bit taller on the left side, but uses that space to fit a 3.5-inch bay, allowing hard drives of 2TB, 4TB, or up to 6TB to be connected. Check out the straightforward installation process in Nyko's video below.

Nyko first unveiled the Data Bank back at CES earlier this year. At the time, it wasn't ready to go on sale because it was still being developed. It seems their work is done, as the Data Bank is now available, and is priced at $39.99. That does sound like a reasonable amount, but just remember you need to purchase a hard drive separately.

While the extra storage space for the PS4 is certainly nice, the Data Bank does add to the bulk and shape of the console, however it does its best in matching the angled, minimalist design. The backside is truly useful, as it features a pass-through for the power port, so the console's cable is still all that's needed.
