Ubisoft delays Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2

Ubisoft already has a fairly big 2018 lined up, but some of the titles planned for release next year have been hit with a delay. Today Ubisoft announced delays for two upcoming titles: Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2. Thankfully, neither of the two delays are all that massive.

In the case of Far Cry 5, we'll see the game's release pushed back by a month. Originally scheduled to launch on February 27, 2018, Far Cry 5's new release date is now March 27, 2018. In its announcement today on the Ubiblog, the company says that the team at Ubisoft Montreal needs some extra time to "make some additional improvements that will bring the best, most ambitious Far Cry experience in line with the team's original vision."

"Ambitious" is a pretty good word to describe Far Cry 5. Set in Hope County, Montana, Far Cry 5 will place players in the role of a sheriff's deputy who has been dispatched to the town to arrest Joseph Seed, the leader of a dangerous doomsday cult. The decision to shift the Far Cry series to focus on religious fanaticism in America has drawn fire from some people, so Ubisoft is definitely taking some big chances with this release.

As far as The Crew 2 is concerned, Ubisoft has decided to move it back to the first half of its next fiscal year. That means we'll see it launch sometime between April and September 2018, so we've still got a little while to wait until The Crew 2 makes it out of the gate. With the extra time, Ubisoft says that the Ivory Tower team will "perform additional playtests" and continue to "gather player feedback."

So, even though The Crew 2 may now be a ways off, we'll at least Far Cry 5 launch relatively soon. When they do eventually arrive, we'll see both games launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and PC.
