Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark game official with Edge of Reality at helm

The development team at Edge of Reality have been revealed as the new commanders of the next Transformers video game with Activision keeping command over publishing rights. With Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, we've got a battle over Earth – with battles on our own, home planet, this time around, while it's quite possible much of the rest of the game will center around rather similar gameplay to past Transformers releases. Here we've got a Story Campaign mode as well as co-op Escalation modes appearing in this game's first data push.

This game rolls with the player able to take command of a Transformer aligned with the Autobots or the Decepticons, with an aim either to protect our planet or destroy it. The Story Campaign mode world with 1-to-4 players offline, while an online co-op Escalation mode works with up to 4 players as well.

This game has not yet received a release date save a general "inside 2014" note. Edge of Reality is an independent studio on the up-and-up, having entered the market with Nintendo 64 ports of games like Spiderman and Spider-Man back in 2000, moving on to titles like The Incredible Hulk and Over the Hedge for a variety of platforms. Having also worked on the PS3 version of Mass Effect in 2012 and, most recently, Loadout for PC, this should prove to be the group's biggest title.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is being developed by Edge of Reality for PC, Wii U, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One right this minute. Above you're seeing a release trailer via IGN, and we're expecting Activision to provide some gameplay action sooner than later.
