Toyota Entune infotainment system no longer requires subscription

We got a look at Toyota's Entune infotainment system back in 2011, an in-car entertainment system offering a variety of apps for certain vehicles. Thus far, Entune has been offered as a subscription service for those who elect to pay for it, something that it put an end to earlier this week. From now on, Entune is being automatically offered to drivers as a complimentary service.

The announcement was sent out to Toyota Entune users via an email from Toyota, in which the drivers were informed of the infotainment subscription changes. In the email, the auto maker says: "We are pleased that so many of our valued customers are enjoying Entune App Suite. As a result, Toyota is proud to announce that Entune App Suite service is now included with your vehicle, at no additional or annual charge, compliments of Toyota."

The change has been implemented, but not all Entune websites and such have been changed to reflect this yet, and so Toyota advises that some locations may still list the service's expiration date and other non-relevant particulars. Even if the accounts and such list these things, the auto maker assures its drivers that the change still applies to them, and that everything will be updated soon.

With the service now being complimentary for Toyota vehicles that have the system, drivers who elected not to activate it are being encouraged to visit the Entune website and register and active their service, something that can also be done using the related Android and iOS apps. With Entune, drivers get access to Pandora, iHeartRadio, Bing, and more.
