Toshiba Tecra W50 workstation offers 4k display

Toshiba has introduced what it says is the first mobile workstation that brings along an Ultra HD 4k display, the Tecra W50. The workstation was first introduced back during CES, and is available for purchase now starting at $2,249 USD.

The most notable part of the Tecra W50 is the 4k Ultra HD display option, which gives users 3840 x 2160 pixels on the 15.6-inch TruBrite display. For those who don't need such pixel density, there's also a Full HD 1080p resolution display available, which has the same LED backlight and 16:9 ratio.

The screen aside, the workstation offers an Intel quad-core i7-4800MQ processor clocked at up to 3.8GHz. Memory options span from 8GB to 32GB, while storage includes both HDD and SSD options from 256GB to 1TB. The battery is a 66Whr/6 cell offering that is user replaceable.

The laptop's full specs are available online, but other trimmings include four USB ports, DTS Studio Sound, an LED backlit keyboard with numpad, optical drive (DVD SuperMulti and Blu-ray), and a fingerprint reader. Included with the laptop is a docking connector for use with the Hi-Speed Port Replicator III.
