Toshiba reveals Portege X20W tablet-laptop hybrid boasting 16-hour battery

At CES 2017 this week, Toshiba unveiled the latest in its 2-in-1 convertible notebook line: the new Portege X20W. The Windows 10 Pro device features a dual-action hinge with 360 degrees of rotation, allowing it to easily switch between a thin and powerful laptop and a 12.5-inch tablet with support for digital inking. While it measures just 15.4mm thin and has a weight under 2.5 pounds, the most enticing spec is the promise of a 16 hour battery life.

The Portege X20W is powered by a 7th generation Intel Core processor, includes a Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, and features both a USB 3.0 port and a USB-C port, with the latter used for charging and Display connectivity. The 360-degree hinge allows for five different viewing angles, and Windows Hello facial recognition is supported with two built-in IR cameras.

The multitouch screen includes TruPen stylus support with 2,048 levels of pressure, allowing users to write notes, take advantage of Windows Ink, or draw and mark-up webpages in Microsoft Edge. The laptop's trackpad has an included fingerprint sensor for authentication, and later this year will see the release of the Toshiba WiGig Dock6 and Toshiba Thunderbolt 3 Dock, both connecting via the USB-C port and adding additional connectivity options.

The exact pricing and spec details weren't revealed, but the Portege X20W will be available soon from Microsoft Stores in an exclusive Slate Gray color, and from Toshiba's website in Onyx Blue before the end of the month, with additional retailers to follow in February.
