Toshiba Portege X30T detailed with Intel 8th-gen U-Series processor inside

Toshiba just revealed one of the first 2-in-1 detachable laptop/tablet computers with Intel's 8th-gen Core U-Series Quad Core processors. Intel's U-Series was also just revealed this week for the first time, purpose built for thin and light laptops as well as 2-in-1 mobile PC machines. The Toshiba Portege X30T is set to roll with a keyboard, a kickstand, and a stylus, all on Windows 10 Pro.

To bring out all the lovely processor power of the 8th-gen Intel Core U-Series chip inside, this machine features a 13.3-inch antiglare 10-finger touchscreen. You can put all 10 of your fingers on the touchscreen at one time – it's crazy! Also this machine has Windows Ink technology and includes a Wacom digitizer pen. That includes 4,096 levels of pressure for top-notch note-taking, drawing, writing siguatures, and all sorts of other stuff.

This notebook has options for either standard or travel keyboards, both with full-size, backlit keys, and a multi-touch ClickPad. The standard option has a spill-resistant set of keys with a set of ports around the sides. Those include 2x USB 3.0, VGA, HDMI, and a full-size Ethernet port. Because that's the only sort of Ethernet port there is, obviously.

This notebook is compatible with Toshiba dynadock U3.0 Universal USB 3.0 and dynadock 4K Universal USB 3.0 docking stations. That'll expand the abilities of this PC well beyond its original build. Even without these docks, this machine has Face Authentication, a Fingerprint Reader, Smart Card, Credential Guard, Intel Authentication, Device Guard, a Trusted Platform Module, Security Lock Slot, and Toshiba's proprietary BIOS – all for physical security action.

This notebook was tested using the "MIL-STD-810G methodology to demonstrate the products durability and reliability." That means it's hardcore. It's able to withstand extreme temperature, shock, vibration, humidity, altitute, and of course drop and dust. On top of that, this device has a three-year standard limited warranty from Toshiba.

This notebook will be offered in a few different builds starting in October of 2018. At that time, the Toshiba Portege X30T will be made available starting at approximately $1,550 USD.
