TomTom Places app for iPhone now available in five countries

TomTom has announced that its app called TomTom Places for the iPhone is now available in five different countries. The app is now available in Germany, Belgium, Portugal, and Denmark in addition to the Netherlands where it first launched. The app was downloaded 75,000 times in the first few weeks after the launch in the Netherlands.

The app interfaces uses the TomTom enhanced POI database and combines it with TomTom maps to allow the user to find local establishments and places. The iPhone user can then search for hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets among other things from the iPhone. Once found, the user can navigate to the location easily.

The app also lists the locations of tourist attractions and ATM machines. Favorite searches can be stored for easy access later. The app is a free download and is on the App Store right now in supported countries.
