Three-layer solar panel sandwich is highly efficient

The problem with solar panels today it's that they simply can't capture enough of the suns free power to really do what most of us want them too. What's the point of a solar installation on your car or gadgets if it only captures enough juice for a tiny amount of usable power.

A company called RoseStreet Labs has made an interesting breakthrough in solar panels that promises to significantly raise efficiency. The panels designed by the company have three layers sandwiched together.

Each of the layers is designed to capture a different wavelength of sunlight. That means rather than capturing only one wavelength and being around 15% efficient, the new panels are 35% efficient or better. That is a huge gain.
