There's a Star Wars: The Last Jedi music-only version out now, too

On the 13th of March, 2018, Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released in its digital form with one pretty strange feature. Included with the purchase of the digital format was a music score-only version of the film, completely devoid of effects sounds or dialogue of any sort. This version required only one extra action after the film was purchased.

Once the film was purchased, the user needed to head to Movies Anywhere and link their purchase account thusly. This is very similar to what we discussed recently with the transfer of Disney Movies Anywhere to the non-Disney-branded version of the service. NOTE: This apparently works with both the digital and the Blu-ray editions of the film.

Once a user has a Movies Anywhere account connected with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, they SHOULD have access to a version of The Last Jedi with only the music conducted by John Williams. As Rian Johnson said in a Tweet today, "This is the full movie, but with no dialogue, fx or backgrounds... just John's score. I really wanted to put this out, it's really something to see John's music play with the movie, like a silent film."



This is all part of the cycle of oddities that've allowed the Star Wars universe to grow under Rian Johnson's guiding hand. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is one of the most monstrously divisive sci-fi films in recent memory, thanks in no small part to the forward-thinking actions of Rian Johnson and crew.

With what Johnson's done, the series can expand and grow in ways the manbabies of the earth could never have dreamed of had it not been for Luke Skywalker developing as a character. Or Rose Tico tearing up the screen with her monstrously important role as guide for future generations of Jedi.
