The original Star Wars trailers get re-cut with a modern take

With The Force Awakens we finally got to see a Star Wars movie from the perspective of someone other than George Lucas. That's not to say that Lucas didn't do some pretty wonderful and incredible things with the story he created, but it was nice to see someone else's take on it.

Why not take that a step further, and see what the trailers for the original films might look like, had they been made today, by the same team that worked on TFA? Well, one Youtuber by the name of Tom F decided to take on that challenge, and cut his own trailers for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, in the same style as some of the ones made for The Force Awakens. Take a look.

It's amazing how much a different editor's take on a movie can change the entire feel of the trailer. If you've never seen the original trailers for these two movies, then you're in luck, as they're just below.

Yes, that's Harrison Ford narrating the trailer for Empire. I don't think I've ever heard him so perky and lively. But it's really interesting to see the differences between the originals, and the ones done in the style of TFA. The originals want to spell out the story and let you know what's going on, while the new cuts just show you bits, and let you fill in the rest on your own.
