It's the first Monday of October, and right now we're just about ready to wrap up the night. First up, as we take a look at stories from around the Web, we learn that Skype has just appointed a new CEO for the company today. And then, as usual, we'll wrap up the daily happenings from around the R3 Media Network. So, hopefully you had a good Monday, and welcome to The Daily Slash. From Around the WebTony Bates Named CEO of Skype: In their inevitable movement to becoming a public company, Skype today announced that they would be appointing a brand new body for the CEO position. A few minutes after the initial announcement it was confirmed that a senior VP at Cisco had been named. His name is Tony Bates, and he will be making his way to the Luxembourg, where Skype is headquartered. He will officially begin his CEO duties at the end of October. The speculation about Bates presence at the top of the ladder for Skype are focused on the enterprise, where he made a huge dent while working with Cisco.
