The Compact Disc Still In Use At 25

That's right kids, the CD or Compact Disc has turned 25. Exactly 25 years ago Philips mad the first CD on August 17, 1982.

Some people estimate over 200 Billion have been sold (looks like the golden arches had some competition after all). Besides storage capacity the big difference was the audio quality the jump from analog to digital created.

I don't have enough data to say for sure whether CD is still the primary medium for purchasing music, but its sales have still got to be up there since poor music is still being made 'round the country. Tons of people still use them to record data or their own mix discs, myself included.
