The best way to protect your AirPods (and the worst)

This weekend we bore witness to what's simultaneously the best and the worst way to keep your AirPods safe from theft. It requires that you have both a good memory and no 3rd-party cleaners. By that, I mean you're going to need to be completely free of friends and family that'd normally do cleaning missions in your home without your assistance.

The solution comes from Reddit user Greg Buckingham, whose sister was the latest to use the ol' switcheroo solution. This isn't the first time this sort of camouflage on a product they hoped to keep safe. It is, however, one of the most shocking instances of coincidence we've ever seen.

Look how perfect this dental floss sticker fits on this AirPods Case. All the owner needed to do was remove the sticker from a single dental floss dispenser and place said sticker on their AirPods case. The size should be right around ideal – no cuts necessary. The cost for this operation should be right around four dollars – no big deal!

This is easily the best deterrent for a thief that'd otherwise be rummaging through your bag, looking for valuable items of interest, finding AirPods with great ease. The only potential negative here is the extreme ease with which any unsuspecting person might mistake the floss box for.... well... floss.

I must imagine that the first inclination most people have when they happen upon an opened box of floss is to dispose of said box. Looking inside the box isn't something I'd ever, ever do with floss that I wasn't sure was my own. I'm not certain a thief would take the time to look inside – but I know that my method of cleaning at home is of the "reckless abandon" type – I'd immediately throw the floss in the garbage, for certain.

What other methods do you use to keep your AirPods (or similarly sized electronics) safe? Is there any new sort of solution on the market (or on your Pinterest board) that you'd like to share? Let us know!
