The Beatles: Rock Band DLC will disappear next month

Rock Band is a game that holds a special place in my heart. Sure, Guitar Hero introduced me to the genre, but I've spent so many nights rocking out with my friends on our sweet plastic instruments. The game has nearly 1,700 downloadable songs that have been released, but starting next month, some of them will disappear forever.

Since Rock Band relies on licensing deals with lots of different companies and bands, occasionally some of those contracts won't be able to be renewed. Unfortunately the biggest band to get into the game is about to have all of their downloadable content removed from the store, permanently. I'm talking of course, about the Beatles.

Following the release of The Beatles: Rock Band, Harmonix released three albums over the course of as many months. This provided fans with access to more than 30 more songs from the likes of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road, and Rubber Soul. And as of May 5th, these will all be removed from the store.

Thankfully, due to the way Harmonix handles their licensing, you will still be able to download these tracks for the foreseeable future. This remains true of nearly every other song whose licensing has expired over the last several years.
