Tenth gen Honda Civic brings first Honda turbo engine to US

Honda has officially debuted the new tenth generation Civic Sedan that will be coming to North America. The car brings a significant redesign on the outside along with new technologies. Among the new technologies are support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. New styling on the outside of the vehicle uses lots of LED lights.

The new packaging and platform that the car uses has given the 2016 Civic the largest cabin in its class. The 10th generation Civic will be offered in several versions with the Sedan being the first. Other versions will include a coupe, SI model, 5-door hatch, and the long anticipated Type-R.

For 2016, the Civic will have two all-new engines to choose from including the first use of turbo engine tech in the US for Honda. Honda Sensing drive safety and assistive technologies are available with Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure mitigation, and Adaptive Cruse control with low-speed follow. That last feature will help in traffic.

Inside, the 2016 Civic also gets a 7-inch HD screen and additional support for smartphone users. The new 2016 Civic Sedan is nearly 2-inches wider, 1-inch lower, and 1.2-inches longer than the outgoing versions. The base engine is a 2.0L i-VTEC 4 mated to a CVT or 6-speed manual. The 1.5L turbo engine will come with CVT only. Honda is targeting 40mpg for its most efficient versions.
