Video: Two Swedes launch donut into space (don’t ask why)

Think about it: have you ever seen an astronaut eat a donut in space? I can’t recall one ever doing so, which is dumb. Donuts are delicious. They’re also weird. So are the Swedes, two of whom are responsible for launching a donut into the atmosphere via a weather balloon. If you’re asking yourself “why”, don’t. There’s no rhyme or reason for this other than the absolute thrill of launching pastry into orbit. It’s believed to be the first donut in space, too, for what it’s worth.

Cuddle Clones are Stuffed Replicas of your Pet

People really love their pets and sometimes they want to immortalize said pet in some way. IO Hawk, the Segway-like mover you might actually want, is now available

Tired of walking around everywhere? The team behind the Segway thought you might be, but their design was awkward at best. the big handlebar rising up from the pedestal made you wonder if you were on some sort of odd scooter, which is counterintuitive when you’re essentially standing still. The IO Hawk, fist unveiled at CES this year, is like a Segway, but ditches the weird handlebar, leaving you free to move about and balance a bit more naturally. For $1,800, it can be yours, too.

Uber passenger claims kidnapping; company cries foul

Uber passenger claims kidnapping; company cries foul

Services like Uber require something we don’t often talk about, and that’s trust. Whether you’re a rider or passenger, there’s an element of trust that should carry the day. A recent Uber trip maybe didn’t have that, but it’s tough to tell what’s really going on with this one. If you believe Uber, the driver simply took an “inefficient route”. If you believe the passenger — who may have been intoxicated — she was kidnapped. Either way, take this into account next time you’re about to use a service like Uber.

This Umbrella Kickstarter is funded, and we can’t explain why

Umbrella’s are one of those things that haven’t really improved over time. Sure, someone comes up with a cute new design now and then, but it’s still a tarp over your head, deflecting water elsewhere (probably onto someone else). A new Kickstarter, which has been fully funded since launching over the weekend, takes the tarp off the rods, and uses the power of air to deflect water away from you. If you’d rather look like royalty holding a scepter than a tourist under an umbrella, check this one out.

“Doorway to Hell” explored, life thriving deep inside

If you’ve ever wondered how to actually get to hell when someone suggest you go there, a giant crater in Turkmenistan just might be the portal. A giant crater, colorfully dubbed the “doorway to hell”, opened up roughly forty years ago. Scientists have now explored the giant crater, and the results are interesting.

Weird Al music video taps TruScribe with Crosby, Stills, & Nash
