Remember those TRON: Legacy peripherals that Razer unveiled a few months back? If you thought that you could probably find yourself buying one this year, then you'll be happy to know that Razer stuck with their fourth quarter estimates, and have officially launched the gaming mouse. It's obviously a TRON-themed accessory, and sure enough, the lights on the accessory light up just as we would want them to.
TRON: Legacy isn't set to release to the masses until December, but that's not stopping companies from producing all sorts of "special edition" products based on the movie in some fashion or another. While video game controllers may be some of the best we've seen so far, the tip of the iceberg has to be the outfits you can purchase based on characters from the film. Oakley, not to be out-done, has announced today that they will be releasing some special edition 3D Oakley-branded glasses. Ones you can actually wear in theaters to enjoy the 3D version of the film.
As we all sit with our fingernails embedded in our kneecaps watching the trailers for TRON Legacy, (I saw one in 3D before Alice in Wonderland a few months ago WOW,) it turns out that those in the best position to show their excitement are the folks over at Marvel Comics. To celebrate their brains melting down in wait for the epic black-plus-light sci-fi epic adventure, Marvel Comics will release variant covers of a whole stack of superhero comics. They're gonna be "TRON-ified" - their word!
With the release of the TRON sequel just about on us (it's going to be the perfect Christmas gift, after all), there's no reason you should be surprised to see that the video game version's Collector's Edition has just broken cover. As many "collector's" items go, there's always a few goodies inside to make your purchase, which is usually a bit more expensive than the "normal" edition, worthwhile. That's certainly the case with this one.
I like Tron and would have gladly sold my brother to the circus as a kid to get a real Tron lightcycle. I tried to make one myself by using duct tape to secure some of those glow sticks to my three-wheeler, but it just wasn't the same. You can now get your own real light bike that is actually street legal and comes with a Tron helmet. Someone needs to go check on Tron Guy, he's probably in a nerd overload induced coma somewhere right now.
As a child of the 80, you can bet I watched Tron enough times to wear out the old VHS. I love that movie and blew more than a few weeks' allowance playing the arcade game at the corner gas station. With the new Tron flick set to launch soon there are all manner of new toys and other items coming to market to rekindle those childhood memories.
Anyone who follows the gaming world knows that there are some smoking piles of crap on the market when it comes to controllers. A new series of controllers based on Disney properties have been unveiled by PDP and they are all kinds of cool.
The controllers of video game consoles get themed all the time. It's pretty much an every day occurrence, so you'll have to forgive us if we seem a bit jaded when we talk about them. But, one look at these beauties from the guys handling the TRON remake, and we're willing to take it all back. Even as we write this up, we're still staring at them, probably drooling. We can't tell.
