Today NVIDIA has sent us a crowbar. This crowbar is green, and it has the text "What would Gordon do?" It has the Half-Life 2 logo on one side, and the NVIDIA SHIELD logo on the other - this means that Half-Life 2 is coming to NVIDIA SHIELD soon. We must assume that this has been in the works for some time - and that Valve’s Source Engine is working with ports of high-powered games very, very well.
Starting on May 12th, Valve will begin their Android invasion with Portal. Today we’ve posted our Portal for Android on NVIDIA SHIELD Review, letting it be known that the game is, in fact, a legitimate full-fledged delivery of the classic game. If this game is any indication of how - with NVIDIA’s help - Valve will be porting games to the mobile environment, they’ve certainly gotten our attention.
This afternoon Steam has been having a bit of trouble staying up in several areas. In Europe East servers especially, with a high number of players searching for the term - as you likely know already. Tomorrow the game known as Goat Simulator will be released to Steam formally. In a bit of a surprise twist to the end of his GPU Technology Conference 2014 (GTU 2014, that is) chat, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang let it be known that Portal would be coming to NVIDIA SHIELD. Not just streaming, and not just in a mirrored mode. Instead, he said, Valve has ported Portal to NVIDIA SHIELD specifically in its entirety.
This week you’ll notice that the game Bulletstorm is no longer available on Valve’s gaming client Steam. Meanwhile, the Games for Windows Marketplace has been closed since August 22nd, 2013.
