This week a touch and type combination notebook from Acer has appeared in the first product-toting teaser video spot for Star Trek Into Darkness that's appeared in what's set to be a several weeks-long dual-brand campaign. While from what we've been told Acer does not plan on having any products appear in the film itself, this cross-promotional teaser will benefit both Acer and the folks behind Star Trek. The film Star Trek Into Darkness is about to be released both in the United States and internationally, while the device appearing in the teaser is set to be revealed in full on May 3rd.

Apparently today is William Shatner's birthday, and he turns 82. To celebrate, Hulu is making its entire Star Trek catalog free for everyone. Normally, only Hulu Plus subscribers would have access to all episodes, but now anyone can watch them without needing an account or having to pay up for a monthly subscription.

Star Trek actor William Shatner called up to the ISS to talk to Commander Chris Hadfield about the NASA space program, going to Mars, and taking risks. This week the folks at Paramount Pictures have released a very special app for the next blockbuster science fiction film in the Starfleet universe: Star Trek Into Darkness! The official teaser for upcoming movie Star Trek Into Darkness has been released, helping build excitement for the second installment of the reboot due to hit theaters in May 2013. Seeing the return of director J.J. Abrams, along with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Captain Kirk and Mr Spock, the movie also includes the addition of Benedict Cumberbatch - known for his role on UK Sherlock Holmes reboot Sherlock - as the gruff-voiced villain.

The next Star Trek big-time motion picture event "Star Trek Into Darkness" has been announced to be working with none other than Dolby Atmos for superior sound. The production teams at Bad Robot and director J.J. Abrams have let it be known that they'll be integrating the Dolby Professional Reference Monitor PRM-4200 into their pre and post-production workflows and that the Dolby Atmos audio system will bring the whole Star Trek into Darkness soundtrack experience to a whole new galaxy. This film has been announced to be hitting theaters on May 17th, 2013.
