HBO is headed to Sling TV this month

Sling TV wants to free you of the cable shackles that bind you. HBO is aiming for the same effect, as their recent Apple TV deal highlighted at Apple’s latest gathering. The two, it seems, would be a match made in heaven. Like so much other cable content already has, a new report says HBO is headed to Sling TV. In a deal with Dish Network, who operate Sling TV, HBO is said to offer up their service to the Internet TV service, and will also provide HBO NOW to Dish.

Sling TV has announced their streaming service has landed on Xbox, and is currently exclusive to Xbox One. Microsoft is announcing all Xbox One users will be available for a free month-long trial of Sling TV, too. Sling TV has arrived on arrived on Amazon's Fire TV and Fire TV Stick set-top boxes, with the streaming service targeting cord cutters arriving alongside a number of formally PC/console-only games as Amazon strengthens its living room play. Launched last month, Sling TV costs $20 a month and offers a variety of sports and entertainment channels like ESPN. Opening up to general subscribers earlier this month, Sling TV may not need a full cable subscription, but it does need some sort of streaming device to run on, and Amazon is hoping a limited time deal for a freebie Fire TV stick will help make their dongle the one people opt for.

Sling TV adds AMC to its core subscription plan

The introduction of Sling TV went a certain way for some of us: excitement, followed by hope that it would offer AMC, followed by disappointment that it didn't and we'd still have to wait longer than the cable bound to get our Walking Dead fix. That changed on Monday, with Dish Network's Internet-based streaming TV service announcing that it has added AMC to its core subscription plan, bringing with it some of the network's other channels (BBC World News, etc.), as well.

Sling TV now open to all

Dish Network kicked off its steaming TV service called Sling TV a while back with an invitation only launch. The invitation only soft launch has now ended leaving the streaming offering open to anyone who wants to sign up. Sling TV gives subscribers access to fifteen different channels for streaming entertainment including ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, CNN, HGTV, and Cartoon Network among others.
