How to make a transparent or clear Galaxy S8 [DIY]

How to make a transparent or clear Galaxy S8 [DIY]

Today we're going to discuss how a person could create a clear-backed Samsung Galaxy S8. Creating one's own Samsung Galaxy S8 Clear Edition - unofficial name, of course - means a lot of risk. Taking that sort of risk is something generally only a person who profits from extreme risks with high priced hardware can take. As it were, there is a person just such as this available and willing to destroy hundreds of dollars worth of smartphone.

Galaxy S8 home button fidgets to prevent screen burn-in

If you thought that screen burn-in is a thing of the past, Samsung may have just proven you wrong. Considered to be a long forgotten artifact of ancient CRT screens, screen burn-in might be coming back into fashion, especially with the Galaxy S8. Samsung Netherlands' Twitter account has semi-officially confirmed that the smartphone is indeed susceptible to the phenomenon, which is why the always visible home button jumps ever so little to prevent that from happening.

Galaxy S8 owners complain about wireless charging issues

Galaxy S8 owners complain about wireless charging issues

No smartphone is going to be perfect. Even Apple's iPhones have their fair share of complaints and imperfections. Given how high-profile the Galaxy S8 is, it's really no surprise that there is a lot more noise being made about each and every potential defect or problem. Following complaints of red tinted screens, some Galaxy S8 owners are now finding themselves unable to charge their smartphones wirelessly even when using Samsung's own wireless fast charging pads.

You can somewhat reclaim the Bixby Button again

You can somewhat reclaim the Bixby Button again

The greatest irony of the Galaxy S8 is that Samsung launched a crippled Bixby in the worst way possible. Whether you're still waiting for promised features or have no care for Bixby at all, that means you're left with a practically useless hardware button. Some have tried to give that button some other purpose in life, but Samsung quickly slammed that door shut. Now BixRemap tries to pick up where others left off but also does two things differently. For one, it can only launch Google Now. For another, Samsung hasn't yet blocked it.

Samsung insists Galaxy S8 red screen just needs a software fix

The Galaxy S8 is already receiving its fair share of criticisms not even a week into its launch. But aside from the crippled initial Bixby launch, the most glaring, almost literally, complain has been around some screens. Some users have reported have reported seeing a red tinge on their screens, at least more than normal and definitely more than what is comfortable. While some market watchers theorize it might be a problem inherent in Samsung's Super AMOLED hardware, the Korean giant is insisting it's simply a software calibration problem. And to prove that, it will soon be releasing a software update "fixing" the issue.

Galaxy S8 front camera hides an unused OIS mechanism

Just like any movie or TV show script, not everything planned gets into production and the final episode or film. Same is especially true with devices, with features that get left on the cutting board. Most of the time, however, those features vanish without a trace. To JerryRigEverything's surprise, one such feature made it to the retail Galaxy S8. That feature is a "movable" front camera that hints that selfies would have become less blurry on Samsung's flagship. That is, if it actually pushed through with it.

Galaxy S8 vs iPhone 8: Do I buy Samsung now, or wait for Apple?

Galaxy S8 vs iPhone 8: Do I buy Samsung now, or wait for Apple?

After my Galaxy S8 review, of the most frequent questions I've been asked is whether people should buy the new Samsung now, or wait until the new iPhone is revealed later in 2017. Samsung deserves some serious kudos for what it's done with the latest Galaxy flagship. Not only is the design on a par with the best we've seen from Apple's smartphone team, top-notch specs like the beautiful curved Super AMOLED screen make it just as pleasing to use as to hold.
