GTA Online stimulus package arrives: software fix today

This week the folks at Rockstar Games have begun pushing a real-deal set of fixes for the Grand Theft Auto Online environment. This piece of the GTA:V or Grand Theft Auto 5 universe saw some heavy oddities going on online when the service was launched including loss of progress, vehicles disappearing in garages, and straight up goofs in modifications. This week Rockstar's big fixes are in order along with the stimulus package they promised for early adopters.

There's little doubt now that the folks behind the scenes at the servers keeping up Grand Theft Auto Online are not having a great couple of weeks. Grand Theft Auto Online updated to fix deleted cars and ugly characters

An update to Grand Theft Auto Online for both PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers should fix missing cars, mods that disappear, and an exploit which allowed the same vehicle to be sold multiple times, as developer Rockstar Games addresses the issues in the overwhelmed multiplayer title. The glitches were down to a cloud save failure, Rockstar Games said, while also pointing out that it had tweaked the algorithms in the character creator so that default "random" generations would be better looking. Meanwhile, there's also news for Xbox Live Games on Demand users.

Original Grand Theft Auto being rebuilt in 3D

It would appear that nostalgia is getting the better of at least one of the original designers of the original Grand Theft Auto as Michael Dailly has announced his intent to re-make the original Liberty City. This re-creation of the original landscape from the top-down game that eventually lead way to one of the best-selling games of all time will be done in 3D. This 3D landscape will then be used for ... well ... Dailly hasn't really confirmed much about the final destination of this environment quite yet.

Grand Theft Auto Online cash packs frozen as Rockstar battles servers

Rockstar has disabled Grand Theft Auto Online currency purchases and massaged the PlayStation Network servers so as to bring the GTA5 multiplayer environment back online, but the cloud-based missions still struggle to hold up to the eager gamers. "For the time being and until we have been able to get everybody access to GTA Online and things are running smoothly, we have disabled the option of purchasable GTA$ cash packs" Rockstar said today, as it battles greater-than-expected demand for the online environment.
