As such, a Reddit group has been created called "Lonely Heartbeats," one that's aimed at connecting one Apple Watch wearer to another. Relatively anonymously. This heartbeat collective isn't only for sharing the beat of your heart through your watch, it's also for sharing drawings and connectivity of all sorts through your wrist. Connecting with a stranger isn't all that difficult - all Watch owners need is an email address.

Both Google and Reddit are starting to get a bit more serious about the content that finds its way to their respective platforms. Reddit is typically thought of as a repository for just about anything you can dump onto the Internet, but those days are changing, at least when it comes to unauthorized adult content. Google is also making changes, and will no longer allow many kinds of mature media content on Blogger, which includes pics and videos. It doesn’t sound as though the written word will be affected.

When a company reports their earnings, we tend to marvel at the amount they brought in (or didn’t). From there, not much seems to happen, at least in view of the public. Reddit recently announced they pulled in $8.3 million in ad revenue during 2014. That’s interesting enough news, but what they’re doing with it is even more interesting. After their big win, Reddit is paying it forward, and will donate 10% of their ad income to charity. Best of all, you can help decide where the cash goes.

If you are one of the Redditors who have been holding on to Reddit's every word about equity, chances are you are pretty disappointed by now. The news-slash-social networking service has recently laid off Ryan Charles, who happens to be the lead engineer in the company's Reddit Notes project. It has also closed all and any job openings related to cryptocurrency. And while Reddit itself says it is just bidding its time and waiting for the legal pieces to fall in place, Charles says that Notes, and any other cryptocurrency plan in the company, is dead.

Because it's January, companies have been dropping their latest transparency reports detailing government data requests from the second half of 2014 -- we saw Dropbox's earlier this morning, for example. Reddit, being the massively popular website that it is, is no doubt hit with data requests, but as its first-ever Transparency Report shows, they're relatively few and far between. Despite having 174 million or so regular visitors, the site was the recipient of only 55 user data requests in 2014.

Elon Musk has shared his concerns about artificial intelligence, both publicly and privately, and none of them paint a rosy picture for the future of such technology. Musk has gone so far as to compare efforts with artificial intelligence to "summoning the demon", and he's not the only one who is worried about it. Bill Gates took to Reddit today to grace us with another AMA, and the topic of AI technology came up. Said Gates on the topic: "I am in the camp that is concerned about super intelligence."

Reddit has just announced an odd initiative that aims to see 10% of the company's shares distributed among users, making true on a promise they made back in September after receiving $50 million in new funding. They're calling it Reddit Notes, and the details are still very slim. The basic idea is that Reddit Notes are to act a kinda-but-not-really form of currency that holds no real world monetary value, but can be used to "tip, donate, or trade" with other users for things of value.

Reddit's CEO has resigned from his position following a disagreement over the company's new office location and lease cost. The information comes from Sam Altman, who made the announcement earlier today on his blog. Says Altman, former CEO Yishan Wong was not asked to resign (nor was it suggested he should), but he made the decision "when we didn't approve the new office plan". For now, Ellen Pao will be stepping up to serve as interim CEO. Joining this announcement are details about other team shakeups taking place at the company.
