Early Porsche 918 Spyder prototype hits the track

Early Porsche 918 Spyder prototype hits the track

Porsche makes some of the most capable sports cars on the planet. Many of these cars will see nothing more challenging than a trip out of the garage on occasion, but some Porsche vehicles are destined hit the track. We got a glimpse at the Porsche 918 Spyder a while back, and it is one of the coolest green sports cars I've ever seen. Porsche decided that it was going to produce the vehicle and sell it to those with a bank account large enough to afford it.

QNX Porsche 911 Hands-on

QNX Porsche 911 Hands-on

It's strange to see a vehicle here at MWX 2012, especially one running BlackBerry - but here it is, a QNX Porsche 911 working also with a set of BlackBerry PlayBooks. This vehicle has the ability to connect to your BlackBerry smartphone using NFC to stereo telephony, while connections between devices then works instantaneously from there on out with Bluetooth. Control the music at the front of the car with the PlayBooks set in the seats in the back, play video from one part of the car to the other, and roll out on the web throughout the vehicle.

Porsche has detailed its upcoming sports SUV, the Porsche Macan, promising both the off-road capabilities of the Cayenne but the sports appeal of Porsche's traditional line. BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 Review

BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 Review

At first glance, Porsche Design and BlackBerry might not make obvious bed-fellows. Still, the car firm's aesthetically-obsessed arm has taken up with Canada's finest, and the Porsche Design P'9981 is the result: maple syrup by way of Stuttgart. The less forgiving might draw comparisons between Porsche's legendary reluctance to diverge from its original 1963 car design, and BlackBerry's struggle to break free of its old OS. The frugal will likely be too busy gaping at the $2,350 price tag. So, Porsche or Pinto? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

BlackBerry Porsche Design smartphone will set you back $2,350

BlackBerry Porsche Design smartphone will set you back $2,350

Something makes you feel justified of a Porsche's hefty pricetag when window shopping at your local dealership. But does this same mentality persist when viewing their new Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry smartphone? The device is set at $2,350, just enough to make a few jaws drop. We had recently seen it clear the FCC earlier with an estimated amount of $2,000, but it has clearly broken that barrier. It's hard to believe the P'9981 doesn't have decent hardware specifications.

RIM's Porsche Design BlackBerry P'9981 has passed through the FCC, indicating that it may finally be making its way to market. Porsche Design BlackBerry to debut October 27

Porsche Design BlackBerry to debut October 27

A BlackBerry smartphone featuring a unique design and Porsche brand will be making its debut on October 27. The device was leaked back in September in a slew of images along with a video, revealing a highly modified 9900/9930 form factor that's more angular and sharp. It was called the BlackBerry 9980 prototype in the video but it has also been rumored as the BlackBerry Knight, R47, and the Porsche Proceeding.

BlackBerry R47 aka Knight aka “Porsche Proceeding” Leaked Details in Full [Video]

What we know about the BlackBerry device you're about to see is that it could be one of several things: a prototype for the 9900/9930, a "luxury" version right along those same lines, or a complete knockoff made by a third party to appear to be an alternate-reality 9900. There are both photos of the outsides of the device, a teardown, and a video in the post below. One of the more interesting (and appearing to be quite likely) options on the plate is that, due to the font, letting, and bold singularity in the word "PROCEEDING" above BlackBerry on the phone, this phone may well have been designed and executed by auto group Porsche - high-cost sharp edges ahoy!

Porsche Design P’6520 watch hides a compass under the face

Porsche Design works with all sorts of things from external storage to bongs. The stuff that Porsche Design cranks out is generally very nice looking and very expensive at the same time. The design firm has some really cool wares to its credit and I really like the new product that has surfaced from Porsche Design today called the P'6520 watch.

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Steering Wheel is packed with buttons

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Steering Wheel is packed with buttons

Hybrid cars are all fine and good with increased efficiency and fuel economy. I am a auto enthusiast though and I really want performance more than I want efficiency. It was really cool to me to see sports cars start to turn up over the last year or so with hybrid systems in place that act sort of like the boost from video games to give the cars a burst of speed when needed. Porsche uses this sort of system on its awesome 911 GT3 R Hybrid racecar.
