PlayStation Vue rolls out iPad app for TV streaming

PlayStation Vue, Sony's new television streaming service, has released its first iOS app for the iPad. PlayStation Vue Mobile offers similar functionality to what you'd have when using a PS3 or PS4 console, the only catch is that it's currently limited to the cities of Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York. These are the same locations that the Vue service launched in back in March. It's likely Sony will bring this up during E3 next week, hopefully with dates for additional availability.

PlayStation Vue expands with AMC Networks addition

Sony's new PlayStation Vue service serves to compete with Dish Network's Sling TV and somewhat with the upcoming HBO NOW service, though Vue costs more than both and is in some ways superior (depending on your needs). In an effort to make your console more relevant to your TV experience than gaming, Sony is soft-launching PlayStation Vue. Their Internet TV service is robust, sporting 55 channels of take-it-or-leave-it TV. There are no complicated bundles — you get 55 channels with Vue’s starting point. It’s competitive with Sling TV as a streaming TV option, but might leave some wanting. The service notably lacks ESPN, a major feature for Sling TV. PlayStation Vue also costs $49.99/month for the basic package, well above Sling TV’s $20/month starting point.

PlayStation Vue: a cloud-based live TV service arriving in 2015

Sony has announced the upcoming service PlayStation Vue, a cloud-based subscription that will bring both broadcast television and on-demand content to its console owners, as well as those using the iPad and other non-Sony gadgets. "Everyday TV is about to become extraordinary," Sony's Andrew House has declared. The service will include a cloud-based DVR-esque storage option, access to live broadcasts from several networks, on-demand programming, and more, with an initial beta launch being set for later this month and an official rollout taking place early next year.
