Here’s how to watch Geoff Keighley’s PS5 DualSense reveal today

New gaming hardware is on the horizon, and normally, summer gaming conferences like E3 and Gamescom would be how consumers and press alike get some hands-on time with that hardware. The coronavirus pandemic brought those plans to a screeching halt, so now we have to settle for reveals that are a more remote in nature.

Sony makes a big PlayStation 5 production decision

At the end of this year, Sony and Microsoft will launch new consoles, and at this point, it seems very likely that we'll still be grappling with the coronavirus pandemic when that happens. While you might think that a pandemic would decrease demand for new (and probably expensive) consoles, Sony is reportedly boosting its PlayStation 5 production, anticipating increased demand because of the pandemic.

Far Cry 6 release date leaked with art and plot

No less than Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring from Breaking Bad) appears on the cover for the next major release in the Far Cry game series. The game Far Cry 6 was leaked today before the folks at Ubisoft had a chance to hold an event or make any sort of major announcement of the title on their own. This game was quite clearly accidentally revealed via the Hong Kong PlayStation Store, complete with details about the release date, setting, synopsis, and key art for the game.

PlayStation 5 box art is thankfully and disappointingly normal

PlayStation 5 box art is thankfully and disappointingly normal

The formal revelation of the PlayStation 5 console has had fans and the Internet split over its design. The most neutral way to describe the box, if you can even call it a box, is that it's different. Because of that, there have been some concerns that physical copies of games, which will still come in good old-fashioned circular disc form, will come in some outlandish packaging. Sony has finally broken its silence on that matter and, for better or worse, PS5 game boxes will look pretty much like PS4 game boxes.

NBA 2K21 will cost more on next-gen consoles – and you’ll have to pay to upgrade

With the end of the current console generation fast approaching, there are plenty of people wondering how publishers and developers will handle cross-generation games. On Xbox Series X, we'll see Smart Delivery, a feature that lets customers buy a game on either Xbox One or Xbox Series X and own it on the other platform, but Microsoft isn't forcing publishers to participate in that program. One publisher who clearly won't be participating in Smart Delivery is 2K Games with NBA 2K21.

We already knew that Cyberpunk 2077 will be an Xbox Smart Delivery title - meaning that you'll be able to buy it on Xbox One and later upgrade to the Xbox Series X version for free - but what about PlayStation 5? It turns out that a similar upgrade path will be available from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 once Sony's next-gen console is actually on shelves. CD Projekt Red has announced that those who own the game on PS4 will receive a free update that makes it playable on PlayStation 5.

Another day, another delay of the game Cyberpunk 2077. This time, CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwinski and head of studio Adam Badowski suggested that they've got another good reason. This time, the delay pushes the release from September 17, 2020, to November 19, 2020 - right to the point at which they've selling the game at the same time as the release of the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5.

Xbox Series X price leak could blow PS5 out of the water

Xbox Series X price leak could blow PS5 out of the water

The Microsoft Xbox Series X price and release date schedule leaked in part, suggesting the Sony PlayStation 5 could be in trouble. Of course we still do not know the pricing of the PlayStation 5 for certain, but if a leaked listing on Amazon France proves accurate, Sony might need to make some adjustments. Today's situation with Microsoft seems to be that they'll position the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S as "loss leaders", with prices that rely heavily on future game purchases and subscription fees gathered from gamers that've bought into their ecosystem.
