Dead Space fans can probably expect some bad news from EA

Last month, Electronic Arts confirmed that the first Dead Space game is being remade for modern platforms. That announcement confirmed various rumors we heard in the lead-up to EA Play Live, but the rumor mill does not stop churning just because something was made official. Eagle-eyed viewers will note that while EA confirmed Dead Space, it didn't reveal when the game will launch. However, thanks to a new report, we have a better idea of when the Dead Space remake may arrive.

PS5 VR details leak from private developers conference

It's arguable that Facebook's Oculus now takes up the majority of the attention in the virtual reality market, but it is hardly the only major player. HTC is still actively working on Vive, and Microsoft's Windows Mixed Reality also dips into that field. And then there's PlayStation VR, the only console-based system among the VR giants. With the new PlayStation 5 console, however, the interest in a VR system to match has also grown. Fortunately, Sony does seem to have big plans for what the PS5 VR will offer, both in hardware and content.

PlayStation 5 is already making a profit (kind of)

PlayStation 5 is already making a profit (kind of)

Oftentimes, when gaming companies release new gaming hardware, they usually take a loss on each console sold. Of course, this doesn't last forever as the cost to produce a console goes down as time goes on, but at the start of a new generation, it isn't rare to hear that console makers are selling the consoles at a loss to get them to a certain price point. As it turns out, the period in which Sony was selling the PS5 at a loss was a short one, as Sony is now running a profit on the disc-based console.

PlayStation 5 sales give Sony – and gamers – some good news

Sony has delivered its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2021, and those results give us another look at how the PlayStation 5 is performing around the world. Sony's Games & Network Services division was the company's most profitable segment in the quarter, which has become something of a theme for Sony's financial reports in recent years. Is the McDonald’s PS5 controller legit, or just clowning? [UPDATE: Removed!]

This week an apparent McDonald's Sony PlayStation collaboration surfaced in Australia. This collaboration appears to have resulted in a fancy new McDonalds Australia 50th birthday celebration PlayStation 5 controller. The odd bit about this situation isn't that the controller exists, but that it appears to exist without any promotional support from McDonald's Australia, Sony Australia, or any of the game streamers supposed to be taking part in the release.

Don’t rush to add an M.2 SSD to your PS5

Yesterday, Sony launched its very first PS5 system software beta. It's a big one, too, as it enables the PS5's M.2 expansion slot that has sat dormant since the console released late last year. For now, M.2 support for the PlayStation 5 is only in beta, and while anyone with a PS5 can register to receive beta software, it's probably best to hold off on adding an M.2 SSD to your console.
