Sonic movie redesign trailer is a whole lot less creepy

Earlier this year, Paramount Pictures took a swing and a miss by releasing the first trailer for its upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog flick. The response to that trailer was not great, with many people complaining about Sonic's uncanny valley look. Fans of the blue blur criticized everything from Sonic's vaguely human proportions to the way his teeth looked and the shape of his eyes.

RIP creepy movie Sonic, 2019-2019

Sonic the Hedgehog fans complaining about Sonic the Hedgehog is nothing new. I should know - Sonic the Hedgehog was the very first video game I played when I was a kid, and throughout the years, I've tried to roll with the punches without feeling too bitter about the character's years-long downturn. Sonic fans have learned to accept mediocrity over the past 15 years or so, but it seems that even Sonic's low points couldn't prepare them for the official reveal of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Sonic the Hedgehog will see a few changes before film premieres

Translating video games into the big screen isn't easy, especially if you insist that the translation is a live-action one. The film industry is filled with examples of such attempts, many of which have ended up as box office catastrophes. There are some exceptions, of course, like the recent Detective Pikachu movie, so whose to say a Sonic the Hedgehog film couldn't be just as good. The Internet, however, gave it a big "NO!" and now everyone involved might be scrambling to fix the blue hedgehog's teeth.

First Arrival trailer lands with plenty of suspense

First Arrival trailer lands with plenty of suspense

Science fiction movies can tend to be a little action-heavy, but it would appear that Paramount's incoming movie, Arrival, will give us something of a departure from the standard formula. The first trailer for Arrival has landed, and instead of a constant stream of epic space battles and massive explosions, the the trailer is more toned-down (for the most part, at least), offering an early look that is both dramatic and somewhat suspenseful.

Paramount puts up 100+ films YouTube, streaming for free

While video streaming is the hot thing these days, not all studios, especially the big ones, are always keen on following the trend. Perhaps more than anything, they fear the likelihood of increased piracy. So when Paramount Pictures makes puts more than a hundred films up on YouTube and makes them available absolutely for free, you might think it's some late/early April Fools' prank.
