It's no secret that Electronic Arts likes to give away free games through Origin. Usually, these games are classics from way back in the day, making these giveaways good for a hefty dose of nostalgia. This week, however, the free game is quite the whopper, as EA is giving away copies of The Sims 4 to anyone who wants them.

Origin EON15-S is an entry-level gaming laptop with some bite

Can you buy a gaming laptop for a dollar less than $1,000? If you asked that question just a few years ago, the answer would be a resounding no. Trying to make gaming laptops more accessible, and therefore expanding its customer base, Origin is putting out the EON15-S, a customizable laptop that, while not exactly a powerhouse, can still be considered a decent machine for gaming. And all for a sweet price tag of $999.

EA Origin goes dark in Myanmar, embargoes cited

EA Origin goes dark in Myanmar, embargoes cited

It’s not unusual for online services or content to be restricted to certain countries. Netflix and YouTube, for example, are notorious for such. Copyright and licensing negotiations are usually cited as the reasons behind those prohibitions. More controversial, however, are when such restrictions are put in place because of political reasons. Such is allegedly the case when EA, without very little warning, blocked access to its Origin games in the Southeast Asian country of Myanmar, later citing embargoes and sanctions imposed by the US against certain countries.

Battlefield 1 trailer revealed with WWI-style madness

Battlefield 1 trailer revealed with WWI-style madness

This morning the folks behind the Battlefield series have brought a trailer for what might be their most ambitious project yet. This is Battlefield 1, so called - sort of - because it takes place during World War 1. This isn't the same WWI you've been taught about in school, however, it's a sort of alternate dimension where oddities can happen. This is what they call the "Dawn of All-Out War". We're looking... a bit... forward to it.

Star Wars: Battlefront Beta opens today at 10AM PST

Star Wars: Battlefront Beta opens today at 10AM PST

Thursday the 8th of October, 2015, the Star Wars Battlefront BETA began opening its doors to the public. This open invitation will be brought to users on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, including several modes of play and environments. This BETA test will be sent out for two reasons. The first is to test the servers - any game that's based primarily in an online environment such as this needs time to make certain it'll be able to be handled at scale. The second reason this BETA exists is that the game itself must be tested for flaws by a large number of users - tiny flaws like bonus icons disappearing when you throw a thermal detonator - that's what they'll looking for.

Origin PC CHRONOS Gaming Desktop Review

Origin PC CHRONOS Gaming Desktop Review

While Origin PC's Chronos comes as one of the most compact gaming PC builds in the industry, it still manages to thrill. While you'll see a whole lot more of the big builds like Origin's GENESIS sitting out in the open at gaming shows - or your most affluent gaming friend's basement, Origin's finesse in jamming the best components into the smallest of cases shines in the Chronos. While Origin also offers the "Omega" small-size gaming desktop, it's the slightly lovelier to behold Chronos we're reviewing today.
