OnePlus Zen Mode 2.0 can disconnect more than just OnePlus phones

OnePlus Zen Mode 2.0 can disconnect more than just OnePlus phones

Smartphone addiction has always been a topic of discussion since there were smartphones but it has gotten a lot more attention recently due to global events. Removing your face from screens and inserting your attention at the moment has become an even more important activity, which has resulted in the rise of digital wellbeing apps. Of course, those apps only really work if they're available on your phone, so it's a good thing OnePlus is opening up its Zen Mode 2.0 app to non-OnePlus phones.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G, N100 coming to the US this month

OnePlus Nord N10 5G, N100 coming to the US this month

It's hard to argue that, despite being a considerably smaller player, OnePlus has risen to the top ranks of Android phone brands, at least in popularity even if not in sales numbers. Its key value of price, however, has started to slip as features and costs go up. The company's solution is the new Nord line of mid-range phones and it will finally bring not one but two such phones to the US market later this month, at least according to one reputable source.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro get OxygenOS 11 mixed bag of goodies

In just a few days, OnePlus will be unveiling its second flagship phone of the year, perhaps the only second flagship phone of the year. But before it reveals the OnePlus 8T, which has practically been leaked to death and even confirmed by OnePlus itself, the company is giving owners of its early 2020 flagships a gift to remind them that they aren't being pushed aside. OxygenOS 11 has rolled out to the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, bringing much-desired features as well as one not so popular change.

OnePlus 8T release teases out most details

OnePlus 8T release teases out most details

Today OnePlus released a trailer for the OnePlus 8T that pretty much spilled all the beans. This device looks to have a set of four cameras on its back, for example, with a 48MP camera as the main shooter with optical image stabilization and between 14-26mm lenses to choose from. There's a dual-LED flash back there as well, and two clear details for material aesthetics: "high matte glass" and a "high gloss logo."

These devices are slight modifications of their predecessors, and they're almost certainly coming to the United States relatively soon. OnePlus 8T Pro is a no-go, new Nord, OnePlus World teased

OnePlus 8T Pro is a no-go, new Nord, OnePlus World teased

The OnePlus 8T is shaping up to be a rather interesting phone, mostly because it seems to straddle the thin line between "regular" and "Pro" flagships. Clues, some from OnePlus itself, seem to indicate that the OnePlus 8T by itself will already be very premium and that there might not be a OnePlus 8T Pro because of that. Turns out the speculation is correct but OnePlus may have other shiny new things to make up for that loss.

OnePlus IDEAS 2.0 to crowdsource OxygenOS’ next big features

OnePlus IDEAS 2.0 to crowdsource OxygenOS’ next big features

It may have had some lapses here and there, one thing that OnePlus has been doing right is taking its community's will to heart. The biggest example of that was the Always-on Display (AOD) implementation which, in spite of misgivings, it conceded to the community's strong wishes. That feature was born out of its IDEAS crowdsourcing campaign earlier this year and the company is now launching IDEAS 2.0 to let the OnePlus community shape OxygenOS' future.

OnePlus 8T Warp Charge 65 promises a full charge in 39 minutes

OnePlus 8T Warp Charge 65 promises a full charge in 39 minutes

As thin and as powerful we may want our smartphones to be, we are mostly held back by one of its most rigid and most volatile components, the battery. Battery technology has barely moved forward in the past years, leaving manufacturers and engineers to design around it, from trying to improve power efficiency to make charging faster. The latter is what OnePlus is aiming for in the next iteration of its Warp Charge tech, promising to give the OnePlus 8T more than enough juice in just 15 minutes.

OnePlus 8T 120Hz screen confirmed, pricing leaked

OnePlus 8T 120Hz screen confirmed, pricing leaked

Being the contrarian that it is, OnePlus has always resorted to less traditional and less rigid marketing methods to promote its products or events. That includes pretty much confirming some of the features and details of a new smartphone ahead of its release. It's still sticking to that strategy, confirming one of the OnePlus 8T's special features. But if an unofficial detail is also correct, that could actually cause a bit of resentment for some OnePlus 8 Pro owners.

OnePlus 5 and 5T updates blocked by a serious, unfixed bug

OnePlus 5 and 5T updates blocked by a serious, unfixed bug

OnePlus has always prided itself on never settling for the status quo, be it in the pricing of its devices or its commitment to regular and timely software updates. It hasn't exactly been perfect in those promises but it can't be faulted for not trying. There has been some discontent, however, among owners of the 2017 OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T over the lack of updates since May and now the company is coming clean on its silence and, unfortunately, it's not all good news.
