OnePlus 6 release tipped best iPhone X clone of all

OnePlus 6 release tipped best iPhone X clone of all

Leaks today show the OnePlus 6 to come in more than one material with a notch'ed display design. This might well be the non-T OnePlus phone users have been waiting for - if not for the company's abandonment of their low-end price-destructor attitude a couple years ago. Now it's just OnePlus trying to be Apple, coming with a OnePlus 6 with the frontside of an iPhone X.

OnePlus 6 specs leak while 5T sells out in North America

It should come as no surprise to OnePlus fans that we're hearing more details on their next smartphone model, the OnePlus 6; after all, the company is almost literally on a six-month update cycle with its subsequent "T" upgrades. But that's the situation we find ourselves in today, as a set of specs for the OnePlus 6 have leaked, setting expectations for the device that will probably debut before summer.

Look, OnePlus 6 is probably a well-priced copycat, too

Look, OnePlus 6 is probably a well-priced copycat, too

When you look at the latest leak of the OnePlus 6, you'll think - wow, but that does look familiar, familiar indeed. The device in the leak seems to work with a display with a notch at the top, and around back it has a pill-shaped arrangement of cameras (two cameras, as it were.) On the back is a fingerprint scanner and an LED flash, as well. If this design blows anyone's mind, I'd ask them how they've so successfully lived under a rock for the past half-year.

So before you settle your mind or wallet on the Galaxy S9 or S9+, take a quick peek at what is yet to come in the next month or two.

OnePlus 6 will be embracing the future but not in a good way

OnePlus 6 will be embracing the future but not in a good way

OnePlus has always been praised for putting high-end features in an affordable product. It hasn’t always been at the forefront of embracing new technologies and trends, however. It won’t do wireless charging, for example, and still won’t raise its screen resolution. With the OnePlus 6, however, it might be increasing that last one a bit, but not jumping to QHD yet. Instead, it will be adopting a 19:9 aspect ratio, which is slightly higher than the now common 18:9 screens. And that extra space will be used for, you guessed it, a notch.

OnePlus 5, 5T can stream HD video if you mail it in

For all the praise surrounding last year's OnePlus 5 and the newer OnePlus 5T, the phones have been missing one important feature, a surprise considering how they're billed as alternate Android flagships: the ability to stream HD video content from a number of sources, namely Netflix. Fortunately, OnePlus has just announced an update to the glaring issue, but it requires an unorthodox process: owners need to physically mail the phone in.

OnePlus 5T vs Essential vs Razer Phone: newcomers showdown

OnePlus 5T vs Essential vs Razer Phone: newcomers showdown

MWC 2018 is almost upon us and with it new flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S9, the 2018 LG V30, the Huawei Mate P20, and more will most likely hog the spotlight, one way or another, and it might be too easy to think that these are the best that the Android world has to offer. Or that you have to pay premium to get the best stuff. Fortunately, there are some new upstarts, and one still young company, that is giving the big boys a run for their money. We look at the OnePlus 5T, the Essential PH-1, and the Razer Phone to see which of these three rebels might be worth your money and dethrone the smartphone kings.

OnePlus Camera M mod improves OnePlus 5/5T photography

OnePlus Camera M mod improves OnePlus 5/5T photography

There seems to be a new pattern among some of the newer and smaller players in the smartphone market. Launch a phone with “decent”, sometimes even dismal camera performance and then promise a firmware update that fixes it later. That fix does come, eventually, but sometimes the results are less than satisfying. Fortunately there are some rather devoted app developers, like XDA Senior Member txx1219, who develop some mods, like this OnePlus Camera M, that takes the disappointing stock OEM camera app and magically transforms it into something good.

OnePlus credit card payments suspended pending investigation

OnePlus may have survived 2017 largely unscathed, but it has started the new year with a thunderous flop. Users everywhere have reported getting fraudulent credit card transactions after they used that same card to purchase something from OnePlus’ online store. While OnePlus is still investigating the incident, it has temporarily stopped accepting credit card payments to put a halt to the reports. Unfortunately, nothing can be done to save those already affected.
