OnePlus 6T is about to make a huge mistake

OnePlus 6T is about to make a huge mistake

The OnePlus 6T won't have a headphone jack, and I'm less than impressed. Just as I was with the Pixel 2, I find myself disappointed that one of the last headphone jack holdouts in the smartphone business is about to fold. While competitors in the OnePlus price margin continue to keep their jacks overseas, here in the United States we're nearly bankrupt for jacks.

iPhone XR price competes with OnePlus

iPhone XR price competes with OnePlus

Today Apple revealed the iPhone XR, complete with a price that makes it a challenger in a new category. A new category for Apple, that is - unless you count what they'd previously challenged opponents in with elder phones. Instead of simply cutting prices on older phones to fill lower-tier price points, Apple's revealed the iPhone XR.

OnePlus 6T fingerprint on display confirmed

OnePlus 6T fingerprint on display confirmed

It was only last week that a leaked image of the OnePlus 6T's packaging revealed a major feature: fingerprint on display. Instead of sitting back and letting us speculate like most companies would after a leak like that, OnePlus instead has confirmed it. As it turns out, the OnePlus 6T will indeed use fingerprint on display, which is a relatively young technology that's pretty exciting from a functionality standpoint.

OnePlus 6T just leaked in (nearly) full

OnePlus 6T just leaked in (nearly) full

An image of the OnePlus 6T appeared on our desk this afternoon complete with an on-brand OnePlus Red exterior. There's not a lot we can't guess at this point about the OnePlus 6T, despite it being weeks from release or even a full reveal. But without an image like this, it's difficult to picture, if you know what I mean.

Vivo V11 is unique: Low cost, hype features

The Vivo V11 was revealed this week with a new sort of notch on its face and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It has a full-screen display and looks, by all accounts, to be a high-priced piece of hardware. But it's not. It's released by Vivo, a company that's a very close relative to two other companies with the same parent: OPPO and OnePlus.*

Alleged OnePlus 6T retail box reveals a major new feature

We’ve never really run out of leaked photos of upcoming smartphones. We even have renders that nearly hit all the right marks. But a retail box without the phone? Well, that’s not something you see every day. But true to its slogan, OnePlus is not one to settle for anything less. So here’s alleged one box of the upcoming OnePlus 6T. Just the box. But even without the phone, it seems that the empty box can tell us something no other leak has so far.

POCOPHONE F1 global rollout: why it matters

POCOPHONE F1 global rollout: why it matters

OnePlus should probably be a bit worried right now with its status as the flagship killer being threatened by a challenger that is both old and new. Xiaomi-born POCOPHONE, a.k.a. Poco in other countries, has just revealed its grand plan to make the POCOPHONE F1, a.k.a. Poco F1 in other countries, available throughout the world. Well almost throughout the world. But more than just worldwide availability, the POCOPHONE F1’s real selling factor is its selling price, which is a lot lower than the OnePlus 6.

Poco F1 can beat OnePlus 6: 10 points!

Phone brand Xiaomi made sub-brand Poco to take on OnePlus both in India and abroad. In the first week after launch, Poco seems already to have rustled up quite a few jimmies in OnePlus forums - might it be that OnePlus finally has some real competition in their once-dominated price-for-value space?

Android Pie update OEM checklist: who’s in and who’s not

Android Pie update OEM checklist: who’s in and who’s not

It’s that time of year again. New Android version, new guessing and then waiting game for which phones will get the update and, just as importantly, when. Things have gotten better over the years, in no small part thanks to high-profile security scares and Apple gloating, but it’s far from being ideal. Ideally, that would be when lists like this will be superfluous. But until that glorious day, here are some of the smartphone makers who have gone public about their love for Pie and those that have been unsurprisingly yet annoyingly silent for the past weeks.
