NES Classic stock: There’s still time to order if you’re quick

As expected, today's NES Classic restock sold out at most retailers very quickly. That will hardly be a surprise to those who were trying to get one the first time the console was available, as they were very hard to come by and restocks were infrequent. Many people likely tried to get an NES Classic this morning and left empty-handed, but if that happened to you, you may not be entirely out of luck just yet.

Here’s why people go crazy for the NES Classic Edition

Even if you follow gaming news casually, you've probably heard that Nintendo will restock the NES Classic Edition next month and keep it in stock for the rest of 2018. Last year, the NES Classic Edition quickly turned into a hard-to-find sensation, and Nintendo caught a lot of heat for ending its production run well before everyone who wanted one was able to buy one. So, what's the big deal? Why are people so obsessed with getting their hands on this thing?

NES Classic Edition making a comeback next month

NES Classic Edition making a comeback next month

Call it modesty or inaccuracy but Nintendo seems to have a problem properly estimating its chances of success. Then again, after a long period of being left behind by other gaming console giants, Nintendo might have not exactly thought it would be this successful. From the Switch to the NES and SNES Classic Editions, Nintendo has failed to make enough devices to satisfy the demand for them. Fortunately, Nintendo does learn from its lessons and, as promised, the NES Classic Edition will be returning to store shelves next month.

Nintendo Switch Online Service details: pricing, NES games, cloud saves

Considering its wild success and its age in the market, it's almost unbelievable that the Nintendo Switch's accompanying Online Service hasn't launched yet. At least not in full and not with the paid subscription. That's all going to happen four months from now when the Nintendo Switch Online service finally opens its doors to more features. But before that happens, Nintendo is giving Switch owners an idea what they will be signing up for when they pay for a subscription.

Capcom isn't done celebrating Mega Man's 30th, though, and what is has planned next is something die-hard fans might want to pick up.

Yes, SNES Classic controllers work with the NES Classic (and vice versa)

The SNES Classic Edition will arrive later this week, and I spent the weekend positioned in front my review unit, reliving my childhood with Final Fantasy III. While my review of the device isn't coming up until later this week, there is something interesting I thought I'd share now: your NES Classic controller accessories are compatible with the SNES Classic. This is true the other way around, and it's all thanks to the Wii.

Nintendo Switch’s hidden “flog” emulator hides full NES Golf

Nintendo Switch’s hidden “flog” emulator hides full NES Golf

A little over two months ago, the Nintendo Switch community was brimming with excitement at the report that there might be a built-in emulator, oddly named “flog”, inside the Switch. Nothing came out of it since then, however, and it was mostly regarded as a dead end. Until now that is. Thanks to the investigations of SwitchBrew member yellows8, we may have an idea now why it was named “flog”. That’s because this emulator might have been made specifically for the classic NES Golf game alone, which apparently is also available inside every Switch console as well.

There's a lot of good news coming from Nintendo this morning, as the company has announced that it will bring back the NES Classic Edition next year. Many of us are already familiar with the debacle that was the NES Classic's original production run, as the mini retro console was notoriously difficult to find and then discontinued far too soon. Now, everyone who missed out the first time around will be getting another chance to buy one next year.
