P2P Google Bucks mentioned by Google’s Schmidt

Upon being asked a question about mobile payment - or being pitched an idea about doing peer to peer payments, as it was, Google's Eric Schmidt responded with a treat of a forgone technology not oft, if ever, spoken about in public. It's Google Bucks, and though it was only tested internally apparently, it was a peer-to-peer payment system that may well have been ready to take place in the real world had such a technology been rendered essentially useless via laws restricting payment in such ways.

One of the first devices to be revealed with Windows Phone Tango on it right out of the box is the ZTE Orbit, a device revealed this week in ZTE's torrent of smartphone releases. This device is set for a second quarter release and is just about as basic and low-end specification having device you can find, it being part of Microsoft's initiative to bring more Windows Phone to the whole world, including areas where an inexpensive smartphone is the only sort of smartphone that's a reality for the general population. With ZTE at the helm of one of the first devices in this Tango line, will Microsoft have a winning combination on their hands?

ViewSonic ViewPhone 4s Hands-on

Mobile World Congress 2012 has already proven itself as one massive draw to manufacturers ability to announce a massive amount of smartphones at once this year, and ViewSonic is no exception to the rule, starting here with the ViewPhone 4s. This device is one of three dual-sim smartphones announced this week by the company, the others being the ViewPhone 5e with a few rounded edges and slightly lower-tiered specs, and the ViewPhone 4e, which essentially replicates the case of the 4s in most ways. The ViewPhone 4s has a Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a cool two-tone set of casings, and a lovely 3.5-inch display running at 960 x 640 pixels resolution, this matching the iPhone's 326ppi IPS display.

The folks at ZTE are making it rain mobile this week at Mobile World Congress 2012, coming in strong with arms full of smart devices running Android and Windows Phone for the international market. ZTE Era revealed with quad-core Tegra 3

There's no doubt that the mobile smartphone market is alive and well this year at MWC 2012, and both ZTE and NVIDIA are prime examples of companies that are bringing the fury. Today at a press conference the ZTE group have announced eight new Android and Windows Phone devices, starting with the most impressive ZTE Era. This device is a 4.3-inch qHD display having Android device running an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor with 4-PLUS-1 technology and the whole unit is just 7.8 mm thick. This device will launch in the third quarter of 2012 to what we're sure will be a welcoming international market.

It's finally here: HTC has just unveiled its latest workhorse phone, the One S. This model slides in just below the One X, using a smaller 4.3-inch screen with a 960x540 resolution, the same as most of HTC's phones for the last year. Instead of the screaming Tegra 3 on the X, the HTC One S gets a standard Qualcomm 1.5ghz dual-core processor. On the software side, it gets the same treatment: Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC's updated Sense UI 4 as a topping. The phone is getting its worldwide unveiling at Mobile World Congress.
