New Android phone puts all chips on speaker upgrade

New Android phone puts all chips on speaker upgrade

Two teaser images from Lenovo reveal the full body of their next smartphone, one whose power rests in speaker quality. Oddly enough, these speakers appear to be sitting on the back of the phone, not the front. As such, users will need to place the smartphone face-down to get the full experience. Like some previous Lenovo smartphones, this one comes with Dolby sound technology - and Dolby branding. Does that make the device enticing enough to consider for you?

LG TONE Platinum puts Harman Kardon inside sleek BT headsets

LG's TONE line of wireless headsets has been around the block already a few times but at the upcoming MWC 2016, it will be showcasing something a bit different. For one, the new TONE Platinum Bluetooth headset gives justice to its name, with its premium looking aluminum housing. But more than just the looks, it also flaunts sound quality that is delivered through a combination of multiple technologies, like Balanced Armature and aptX, and certified with Harman Kardon's iconic brand.

LG X series bringing camera, screen choices to mid-range at MWC 2016

LG X series bringing camera, screen choices to mid-range at MWC 2016

LG has seemingly adopted a new strategy. Doing aways with its previous generations of smartphones, the Korean OEM is taking a new approach that seemingly addresses specific needs instead of a broad market based on price tags. Saying that not one size fits all, it has debuted the K series with, supposedly, a focus on wallet-friendly smarpthone photography. Now it is announcing another new series, this time starting with the letter "X". The LG X cam and X screen only share the same name, and maybe the same price range, but their purposes are distinctly different.

Possible Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 sighted, might debut at MWC 2016

Possible Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 sighted, might debut at MWC 2016

Unlike with the first Galaxy Tab S, Samsung hasn't been marketing the Galaxy Tab S2 as much, which is strange considering the line is supposedly its flagship Android tablet family. Perhaps its due to a worldwide somewhat negative attitude towards tablets in general. So it is somewhat not a surprise that a Galaxy Tab S3 isn't making a big splash in Samsung's rumor mill either. It might have even entered our radars if not for a sighting, coupled with some deduction, on GFXBench, hinting at its existence.

Archos has a new smartphone that will be making its official debut at MWC 2016 kicking off in about 11 days. At the show, the smartphone will make its official world debut, but ahead of that debut, Archos is giving up the details on the device. Part of the appeal of the 50d Oxygen is a minimalistic design that looks very good considering the budget price attached to the smartphone.

Alcatel Idol 4S box to serve as VR goggles, MWC lineup revealed

Alcatel Idol 4S box to serve as VR goggles, MWC lineup revealed

MWC 2016 is fast approaching, so naturally OEMs are trying to get in the last pieces of their wares. Or trying hard not to let the public see yet. Of course, with all the leaks and tips going on, that's nigh impossible to accomplish. Even Alcatel isn't exempt from that malady. In fact, it may have just been hit hard the most, with its entire lineup having practically been revealed. That said, it does bear one new interesting tidbit, that Alcatel's new OneTouch Idol 4S will come in a plastic box that will double as a VR headset.

Samsung Galaxy S7 camera details: bettering the best

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are likely headed toward a full reveal on the 21st of February, complete with a new set of cameras. Today we're having a peek at some of Samsung's newest in camera technology - mobile technology, that is to say - revealed in part all the way back in November. This camera tech will make the next Galaxy smartphone's camera powerful in all conditions. Not just outdoors. Not just in high lighting conditions. All places.

LG G5 day confirmed for Samsung Galaxy S7 night

LG G5 day confirmed for Samsung Galaxy S7 night

While Samsung may have the night all wrapped up with the Galaxy S7, LG has chosen to reveal the LG G5 in the afternoon. This set of events, it turns out, will be taking place on the 21st of February - later this month - in Barcelona, Spain. That's during Mobile World Congress 2016, where both events will be taking place outside of the main event center. It's the invite that has us baffled the most, it being animated with a walking robot and a bouncing fish... thing.

Samsung Galaxy S7 release date, price, specs, features to boost software stronghold

Samsung Galaxy S7 release date, price, specs, features to boost software stronghold

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge models suggest that the company will stick with model sizes that developers need not change for. After years of changing the innards and outsides of the Samsung Galaxy hero smartphone lineup, Samsung appears to have stuck with what works - and, in the process, they're about to create an environment that's strong enough for developers to invest time and effort into the platform. As it is with Apple's iPhones and their rarely-changing display densities, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will follow the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Plus' leads.

Samsung Galaxy S7 release tipped with Gear 360 spherical cam

Samsung Galaxy S7 release tipped with Gear 360 spherical cam

Samsung is reported to be revealing not only their Samsung Galaxy S7 hero phone, but a spherical, VR-friendly camera called Gear 360. This device, the Samsung Gear 360, has been teased as quite akin to what we've reported under a different name late last year: DUO PIXEL. That device, we'd gathered, would work somewhat like the Ricoh Theta camera, capturing two photos or two videos at once, combining them to create one spherical piece of media.

Samsung Unpacked set for 21st February, expect the Galaxy S7

Samsung Unpacked set for 21st February, expect the Galaxy S7

Mark your calendars! Just a day before the madness of MWC 2016 starts, Samsung will be unveiling "The Next Galaxy". The Korean manufacturer has set aside the evening of Sunday, February 21, for its bi-annual Unpacked event, where, among other things, it is expected to reveal the Galaxy S7. Or Galaxy S7's, depending on how many Sammy really has prepared. But judging by how the invites are themed, you can expect more than just a smartphone to be announced. You can, perhaps, expect a new way of looking at things, almost literally.

HTC One M10 release details pack a familiar set of specs (and a watch)

HTC One M10 release details pack a familiar set of specs (and a watch)

HTC is tipped to be bringing their next-generation smartphone to an event outside of Mobile World Congress 2016, instead opting for a stand-alone event not unlike that of the HTC One M8. It's almost as if HTC decides where to reveal their flagship device each year depending on the weather. Here once again they'll probably show off something in Barcelona (MWC), but will bring another bit of heat just a week or two later. Last year they were at MWC with their M9, but the year before that they were in NYC.
