MSI, ASUS, Acer and Lenovo prepping Atom N450 netbooks for January 11th

MSI’s rumored plans to corner the Pine Trail netbook market this month look to have been put on hold, with the company named as one of four firms – the others being ASUS, Acer and Lenovo – set to launch Atom N450 based models on January 11th.  The new timescale apparently complies with Intel’s launch schedule, with the N450 set to officially debut on January 10th, ahead of the Atom N470 processor’s arrival in March 2010.

MSI have outed their latest X-Slim ultraportable, and they've slipped in an AMD processor rather than the usual Intel fare.  The MSI X-Slim X430 gets AMD's Athlon Neo X2 CPU and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3200 GPU, together with 2GB of memory, a 14-inch 1366 x 768 16:9 display and choice of 320GB or 500GB hard-drives.  In keeping with the X-Slim range's skinny ethos, it measures 24.5mm thick.

MSI Tegra-based ebook reader planned for 2010

MSI are threatening to join the ebook reader market themselves, with company chairman Joseph Hsu revealing that they’re currently working on an NVIDIA Tegra based device.  The news comes after ASUS reiterated their ongoing ebook reader development, with the most recent news suggesting that the company has not one but two such devices in the works, offering two different screen sizes.
