Galaxy S8 Pirates of the Caribbean Edition is official (and hard to get)

Remember that special 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Galaxy S8 variant we saw a couple weeks ago? It is back, and it is official this time. There's a big catch, though, that may disappoint fans located in the western world: it appears to only be available in China, making it particularly difficult to get in the US or similar regions. If you do find someone to send you a copy, though, expect to pay handsomely.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Review: A bad end to an OK series

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Review: A bad end to an OK series

It seemed that after the lackluster standalone installment On Stranger Tides, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was finally over, having ended on a bad note after resurrecting the original, and decent enough, trilogy. That wasn't the case, as everyone knows by now. The fifth and final installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales, arrived in theaters late last week to give audiences one last experience with series favorite Jack Sparrow. Unfortunately he, and the rest of the movie, fell flat.

More HD photos of Rey’s Lightsaber (and its true identity)

Today we present the best look at Rey's Lightsaber we currently have available - up close and personal with a nice set of photos. These images come with a bit of confirmation of information passed down this week by the keeper of the canon for Star Wars: Pablo Hidalgo. Before there's any confusion when the first wave of The Last Jedi toys are released in stores - the name "Rey's Lightsaber" is a simple re-naming of a lightsaber we already know very well.

Star Wars The Last Jedi Trivia: is that a Bothan, or not?

Star Wars The Last Jedi Trivia: is that a Bothan, or not?

The first major photo shoot for Star Wars The Last Jedi brought with it a question of nature of one alien in particular - this horse-faced fellow you see before you. "Many Bothans died to bring us this information," said Mon Mothma, leader of the Rebellion, in Star Wars Return of The Jedi. Since then it's been a never-ending battle to decide what Bothans - the Bothan Spies, that is - were and how they looked. In the most recent discussion on the matter, it's clear: there is no one, single version of a Bothan, but many.

New Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer shows Vulture in action

The third trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming dropped today, and it gives us a few glimpses we've yet to see in the trailers released so far. Most importantly, this trailer shows off even more of the Vulture in action, building hype for the showdown between him and Spider-Man. It goes without saying, but perhaps you shouldn't watch if you'd prefer to go into the movie blind.

Sphero’s next remote-controlled car has eyes and a mouth

This week the folks at Sphero have revealed that they're continuing their high-five of a relationship with Disney with a CARS 3 vehicle. They worked with the folks at Lucasfilm and Disney to make a real-deal BB-8 a reality - and in the process made the best Star Wars toy we've ever experienced. Now they turn their attention to the Pixar mega-franchise Cars for a slightly more traditional endeavor with Lightning McQueen.

“Genius” author Walter Isaacson on Einstein vs Leonardo vs Steve Jobs

This month we had a chat with author Walter Isaacson about his work on humanizing several of histories most influential geniuses. Isaacson is the author of Steve Jobs' most famous biography - you might remember him from this 60 Minutes interview given after Jobs' death. In 2007 he released the book "Einstein: His Life and Universe", and in 2017, National Geographic began releasing the episodic TV series "Genius" using Isaacson's biography.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in next James Cameron Terminator movie

The Terminator movie series seemingly died with the bomb that was 2015's Genisys, but as we reported earlier this year, none other than director James Cameron may be returning to the franchise for a new film. But now there's news coming out of the Cannes Film Festival this weekend that actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed he'll return to star in the next Cameron-involved Terminator movie.

Why Sony’s Venom (2018) movie is a huge mistake

Why Sony’s Venom (2018) movie is a huge mistake

The folks at Sony that own the rights to Venom, from the Spider-Man universe, are about to make a huge mistake. Instead of waiting for the next Spider-Man film to be released - by Disney-owned Marvel - they're releasing Venom in their own separate Sony universe. That means no cross-overs - and no tie-ins with any of the established characters already out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Star Lord’s Jacket Review

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Star Lord’s Jacket Review

Every good modern superhero needs a great jacket. For Chris Pratt's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hero Star Lord (AKA Peter Quill), that means a red ravager jacket. The jacket we're taking a peek at today is a replica made by the folks at Film Jackets, and for lack of a better term to describe a piece of clothing such as this, this jacket is completely radical.

See Logan in black-and-while in theaters for one night only

It seems it's becoming a bit of a trend recently for certain movies with dystopian or western themes to get special edition cuts in monochrome. The most notable example is last year's Black and Chrome Edition of Mad Max: Fury Road, but now the recent hit Logan is getting the treatment. James Mangold, director of the final Wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman, has revealed that a special black and white version of Logan will be coming to theaters.
