Moto G 2015 poses for the camera ahead of official date

These days almost nothing is sacred anymore in the land of smartphones. Even Apple, long considered to hold a tight lid over its products, have become more and more subjected to leaks. What more less powerful companies? Motorola has scheduled a media event on Tuesday, presumably to unveil its 3rd gen Moto G, but someone managed to get their hands on one already and is all too happy to spread the word. Not that there's much to spread anyway when it comes to the Moto G.

Why I won’t be buying a new Moto X or G

Why I won’t be buying a new Moto X or G

Next week Motorola will likely reveal the next Moto X, a flagship phone that'll be better than any they've made before. What we're exploring today is the idea that Motorola already made a device so good that there's no reason to upgrade. What I'm suggesting here is that Motorola's 2014 Moto X is so good in basically every way a smartphone should be, that users might be better off buying that phone than whatever Motorola reveals this year. As we've said before, this is also true of the original Moto G.

Fasten your seat belts! Next week will be a doozy for devices launch

IFA 2015 is traditionally the time when many companies announce their wares to a captive audience, both physical and virtual. There now seems to be a trend, however, of some of those opting to go ahead, perhaps to avoid clashing with other giants. This month, it seems that the stars have curiously aligned to make the last week of July filled with new toys and tidbits that we'll be talking about in the days, weeks, or even months, to come. To better buckle up, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

This time, however, delivered in moving pictures format, which makes it more entertaining and probably easier to digest. And you don't even need to know Brazilian Portuguese to understand it. This promotional video details almost all the interesting features of the mid-range Motorola smartphone heading our way next week confirming what we have seen elsewhere. And for the parts that it doesn't reveal, we can pretty much fill in the blanks.

Moto G Moto Maker options leak showing lots of customization options

Many people out there feel as strongly about what their smartphones look like as they do how well the smartphones work. For this reason, many manufacturers are offering more and more customization options. Apple still limits you to three main colors and any customizing owners do is done with cases. Motorola on the other hand has some cool customization options for the Moto G.

It’s the Moto X’s time to smile for the camera

It’s the Moto X’s time to smile for the camera

It's just a few days before Motorola reveals what it has in store for us in its press event next week, but so far it is the Moto G that has been the center of attraction of many leaks and rumors. Now, however, it's the Moto X flagship's turn to shine. Sort of. Two photos of what is allegedly the next gen Moto X has popped up on the Internet and one in particular is quite interesting. It reveals what looks like a front flash and what could be a fingerprint scanner.

Moto G 3rd gen listed early: 2GB RAM, 1080p, and LTE detailed

Motorola is, you may have noticed, having trouble keeping it third-generation budget smartphone under wraps. The company has an event coming next week and it is expected the next-gen Moto G will be unveiled during it, but ample leaks — messy as they are — have offered numerous glimpses at the model. The leaks aren’t uniform in their information, and so we still don’t know what the handset will precisely offer. As the clock counts down, however, the leaks are becoming more substantial, such as their latest one from a retailer in Switzerland.

Motorola teases July 28 announcement, new Moto inbound

Motorola has just sent out press invites to a July 28th event that promises to "change our relationship status." Other than the coy message, there's few details about what will be announced, except for that events will be held in both New York City and London. Seeing as how the last 48 hours alone have seen leaks of both the new Moto G and Moto X, it seems likely we'll be hearing about a new phone.

Moto G tip reveals specs that confirm our suspicions

The start of the second half of the year also marks the start of the second phase of new smartphone lineups. Which means another round of rumors, leaks, and tips from anonymous sources. Depending on Motorola's mood, we might see yet another batch of its Moto family sometime between September and November. Curiously, it isn't the next Moto X that has been the subject of many sightings but its more affordable sibling, the Moto G. Our tipster, who of course remains anonymous, paints us an almost complete picture of this 3rd gen smartphone's innards, which, as expected, is a mixed bag.

Moto G 3rd gen surfaces in retail shots

Moto G 3rd gen surfaces in retail shots

We've seen shots of the upcoming third generation of the Moto G a few times now, but this latest leak -- assuming the shots are legit -- gives us our best look at them thus far. They are press images, likely the same shots we'll be seeing show up on retailers' websites in the near future. The same oblong rear camera design is present as well as the familiar Moto G dimple. The handset hasn't yet been announced, but the increasing leaks and sightings hint at an upcoming launch.

Third-Gen Moto G: 3 reasons why you don’t need to upgrade

Third-Gen Moto G: 3 reasons why you don’t need to upgrade

As Motorola's third-generation Moto G begins to show itself in leaked photographs, we take another look at the original. Why upgrade to a newer model when the original is still running strong? We'll tell you why - there's no real good reason to upgrade at all. Motorola made a device that's so compelling all the way back in December of 2013 that people are still using it. They had a rather strong piece of hardware on their hands, then they updated its software - multiple times. What's left to do?

3rd gen Moto G gets leaked with surprisingly decent camera

As we reach the half-year mark and near September, we start to look towards to the smartphones and devices that are yet to come. While we already do expect a new Samsung and a new Apple to blaze a trail, there are always some unexpected morsels that can be found along the way. Motorola's timetable hasn't exactly been that predictable, so when news of a new Moto device comes out, like a 3rd generation Moto G, it's hard not to take notice, even if there isn't much to look at yet.
