Toyota recalls 400k Lexus cars over fire hazard

Toyota has recalled over 400,000 Lexus cars over a potential fire hazard, reports Bloomberg. The fires could start as a result of potential fuel leaks, a problem that Toyota will fix under the recall. The news joins a larger mass recall that has swept up several auto makers that use air bag components from Takata Corp. Under that recall, which the NHTSA has demanded become nationwide after first launching as smaller regional recalls, is potentially fatal.

This is the Lexus LF-C2, and it’s kinda stunning

This is the Lexus LF-C2, and it’s kinda stunning

Lexus has brought along an eye-catching new concept to the LA Auto Show 2014, the Lexus LF-C2, though while the droptop 2+2 might be described as a design study, it looks almost ready for the road. A clear descendent of both the IS and the IS C convertible, the LF-C2 envisages a life on the open road where the many angles would have plentiful opportunities to catch the light. It'd have to be a dry route, though: since the LF-C2 Concept has only the climate inside auto shows to consider, there's actually no roof at all.

2015 Lexus IS 250 Review – Distinctly Divisive

2015 Lexus IS 250 Review – Distinctly Divisive

It's never been tougher to be a small, sporty sedan. Luxury buyers are being wooed by the segment above, while the gradual up-speccing of full-sized sedans below is making it harder and harder to stand out. Factor in the growing number of more practical coupes on one side, and nimble sports crossovers squeezing in from the opposite direction, and the risk of being seen as a staid four-door is considerable. Lexus’ answer to that in 2013 was the new IS, a stark departure from the company’s previous playbook, and it’s the 2015 IS 250 that’s been on my drive trying to coerce me from behind the wheel of a BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C Class, or Audi A3.

The crazy Lexus LF-LC is going into production

The crazy Lexus LF-LC is going into production

Lexus has confirmed it has production plans for the LF-LC concept, hoping the striking coupe will do more for the brand's reputation than the insanely expensive and rarely-seen LFA supercar. Exactly how much the road-going version of the concept will cost is unclear at this stage, as are details of its drivetrain and when it might hit dealer forecourts, but Lexus is insistent that - though positioned at the luxury end of the scale - it will address a far broader market than its previous flagship folly. That means no woven carbon fiber body and no $375,000 price tag.

Lexus prices up 2015 NX and RC F

Lexus prices up 2015 NX and RC F

Lexus has priced up its new NX baby-SUV for 2015, as well as putting a final tag on its slinky RC F coupe, as it prepares to take on its German rivals and shed what remains of its stuffy, anonymous image. The 2015 NX, which we drove back in July, distills the company's larger RX SUV into something a little more affordable as well as with a smaller footprint, though ramps up the distinctive - and polarizing - styling in the process, particularly on the F SPORT model with its even larger "spindle" grille.

Oculus used to demo Lexus RC F in virtual reality

Oculus used to demo Lexus RC F in virtual reality

Welcome to your daily dose of virtual reality. Today you’re going to see Lexus make use of the Oculus Rift DK2 - still a developer kit, mind you - to show potential drivers what it’ll be like to drive a Lexus RC F. Virtual reality helmet and physical controls instead of on-track driving. How’s that for a compelling use of next-generation technology?

Smartwatch-toting will.i.am is designing a Lexus NX because fashion

Smartwatch-toting will.i.am is designing a Lexus NX because fashion

It's a tough world if you're holding out for a compact crossover designed by a rapper, producer, and fledgling-smartwatch-designer, but thankfully Lexus has heard our plaintive cries and brought in will.i.am to cook up such a car. A special edition of the new Lexus NX we drove last month is in the works, designed by the multi-faceted musician.

Lexus said building a 600HP monster coupe to revamp reputation

Lexus said building a 600HP monster coupe to revamp reputation

Lexus may not be the first car brand that comes to mind when you think of outrageously extreme performance vehicles, but that may change if rumors of a twin-turbo production version of the striking LF-LC concept toting 600HP+ pan out. Likely to launch as the Lexus SC F, the hottest of the SC coupe range will supposedly have a meatier version of the 5.0 V8 set to power the top-spec Lexus RC F.

2015 Lexus NX first-drive: Crossover Crunchtime

2015 Lexus NX first-drive: Crossover Crunchtime

The 2015 Lexus NX isn’t your accountant’s Lexus. Aggressively designed, and breaking new ground for Lexus with its first turbocharged engine, the new NX attempts to distill what has worked for the RX into a package more appealing to hip urbanites, young families, and those who might more regularly find mountain bikes in their trunk than Whole Foods bags. True to recent form, there’s even a warmed-up F SPORT version to offset the hybrid worthiness just a little. The NX doesn’t hit the US officially until the end of this year, but I grabbed some early time behind the wheel to see how it’s shaping up.
