The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword isn’t coming to Switch after all

Well, it was fun to think about for a couple of days, but it seems that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword won't be coming to Switch anytime soon. Over the weekend, series producer Eiji Aonuma seemingly teased a Switch port for Skyward Sword at a Zelda concert in Osaka. Today, however, Nintendo shot down hope of such a port, so it looks like we Switch owners will be getting our Zelda kicks from Breath of the Wild for the foreseeable future.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword might be coming to Nintendo Switch

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword might be coming to Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has developed a habit of porting older games over to the Switch, but thus far, those first-party ports have mostly been limited to Wii U games. That could be changing at some point in the future, as Nintendo may be planning to bring The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to the Switch. Skyward Sword, of course, was the final Zelda game for the Wii, and the last mainline game before Breath of the Wild (if we're not counting the HD re-releases of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker).

New 3D Zelda game suggested by Nintendo job postings

After launching back in March 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild established itself as one of the best-reviewed games of the year and as one of the must-have titles for the Nintendo Switch. Since it released side-by-side with the Switch, it stands to reason that we'll see at least one more Zelda game for the console before everything is said and done. As it turns out, Nintendo might already be working on it.

Best Buy has a tempting Nintendo Switch bundle deal for a short time

Since the Switch is still a relatively new console that's selling well, we haven't seen very many discounts on it. The ones we do see usually come in the form of some sort of bundle deal, which might stick you with accessories or games you don't really want. Best Buy has a new bundle deal of its own on offer currently, but this time around, you get to pick the game it comes with.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe brings BotW Master Cycle Zero and Link

There is no shortage of racing games in any platform but Mario Kart has a special place in gamers’ hearts. It is one of the few and perhaps the most notable racing game that makes any aspect, including losing, just as fun as winning. But unlike common racing games, its appeal is also dependent not on generic vehicles but memorable characters. The latest update to the latest version of Mario Kart adds Link to that roster. But who are we kidding, we’re really after the Master Cycle Zero.

Nintendo Switch is getting two more Wii U ports

Nintendo Switch is getting two more Wii U ports

The Nintendo Switch had an excellent 2017, which was driven in part by Nintendo's focus on putting a bunch of first-party franchises on the console early. Part of the way Nintendo achieved this was by porting games from the Wii U over to the Switch, as it did with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament DX. We learned today that Nintendo is going to continue this trend of porting old Wii U games over to the Switch, as it announced two more games today during its Direct Mini broadcast.

The Best Games of 2017

The Best Games of 2017

While 2017 was a rough year in many regards, it was one of the best for gaming. This past year was packed with so many excellent releases that making a list of the best could very well turn out to be a losing proposition. I’m going to try, though I should mention that these are my favorites of the year - this list was not determined by committee, nor will it be ranked. Since this is a list of my personal favorites, I’ll obviously only be discussing games that I’ve played. Therefore, if you don’t see your favorite game of the year, don’t necessarily take it to mean that it isn’t good. Let’s dig in!

At this point, we can safely say that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the best games of the year. Breath of the Wild has been earning a number of different Game of the Year honors as we close in on the end of 2018, so it's only natural that players would be wondering about the future of the game and whether or not we'll receive more DLC. It looks like we won't, as Breath of the Wild is now considered to be a finished product by its creators.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild expansion rolls out with Link on a bike

Japanese-made RPGs are often fluid in terms of their settings. Fantasy isn’t always fantasy and you’re likely to see some automatons mixed with wands and potions. So when Link starts a motorbike across mountains and rustic terrain, it all feels natural. In fact, it feels fantastic! That is practically the general reaction to the last few seconds of the trailer that introduced The Champions’ Ballad, the second and newest expansion to the breath-taking The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
