The HTC U11 has some fervent fans, but not everyone with their eye on the model has picked one up yet. If you're counted among those people, HTC has some good news: you'll be able to preorder the 128GB version of the U11 in the United States starting tomorrow. Not interested? The company is also hoping to bring in some new customers by dangling a few sweet summer deals.

HTC U11 Alexa hands-on: What works and what needs work

HTC U11 Alexa hands-on: What works and what needs work

This past week we've had some time with the HTC U11's newest feature boost: HTC Alexa onboard. That's Amazon's Alexa personal assistant, but placed on the HTC U11 in a way that's unique to this device. While Alexa is available in its app form for other smartphones, here Amazon and HTC have worked together to allow Alexa to act as similar to an Echo or Echo Dot as any smartphone has been before.

Squeeze for Alexa, coming to the HTC U11 very soon [UPDATE: It’s out!]

In the future, we might no longer need to even touch our phones to control them. We can just do it by voice. That is, if Samsung's vision for Bixby ever truly takes off. In the meantime, however, we'll have to content ourselves with less powerful but more useful personal assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa. And we'll still need to have a physical way to trigger those, like, say, squeezing your phone, which is exactly what HTC wants you to do with its U11 phone, possibly starting this week.

These are the features coming to the HTC U11 soon

If HTC’s “true” 2017 flagship felt raw, that’s probably because in some ways it is. Sure, Android 7.1 is definitely mature enough, but HTC’s own additions and modifications are fresh, untested, and still undergoing development. Fortunately, it might be rapid development, as there is now word on several features that could be landing on your U11 within a few weeks at the earliest, including some issues with the smartphone’s already excellent camera. At least by DxOMark standards.

An HTC U11 “mini” might be in your future

The age of mini flagships is upon us again. Well, they never really left us but only took on different names and forms. In the midst of rumors of a "true" Galaxy S8 mini in the works comes word that HTC might have something similar in mind. According to LlabTooFer, a certain HTC "Ocean Life" coul be around the corner and will practically be a mid-range HTC U11.

Here are the Edge Sense features coming to the HTC U11

Here are the Edge Sense features coming to the HTC U11

Although it is a highly capable smartphone in its own right, the HTC U11 would have probably been overshadowed by the likes of the Galaxy S8 or even the OnePlus 5 if not for two things. One is a camera highly praised by DxOMark. The other is its squeezable Edge Sense gestures. Not unlike Samsung's Bixby, the version of Edge Sense that new HTC U11 owners got was raw and underwhelming. Now the company is assuring customers that more are yet to come, starting with these actions.

OnePlus 5 vs everyone else: where the upstart stands

OnePlus 5 vs everyone else: where the upstart stands

The OnePlus 5 has finally broken cover and, with that, we are almost through this year's expected roster of flagship smartphones. While still waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the LG V30, the Moto Z2, and, of course, the iPhone 8, we can take stock of what we have so far and see how they measure against the smartphone that's promised to "Never Settle". Does OnePlus still have that special sauce that helped its meteoric rise to international fame, or in some cases, infamy? Or has it already fizzled out and has become yet another "also ran" phone? Let's see how it compares with the other runners in this race.

Red HTC U11 counts down to US release

Red HTC U11 counts down to US release

It's been an exciting couple of weeks for those in HTC's camp. The HTC U11 launched to solid reviews across the board, and though there was the slight misstep of its retail release being exclusive to Sprint, the phone is still available unlocked through HTC's website. If you were thinking of picking up one of those unlocked U11s, you may want to hold off for another day, because HTC is gearing up to launch a new red variant of the device.

HTC U11’s squeezable edges come at a terrible cost

HTC U11’s squeezable edges come at a terrible cost

HTC tried to explain away criticisms of the HTC U Ultra by claiming it wasn't meant to be their main story in the first place. In a sense, the HTC U11 is meant to be both their star and their redemption. In some ways, like in specs, it does fit the bill. But in at least one way that might be more important to users, it fails to make the grade. As Zack Nelson from JerryRigEverything found out, the HTC U11's headline feature has a nasty side effect: a horribly bendable phone.

HTC U11 US release today: What you need to know

The company's newest phone, the HTC U11, has released to surprisingly stellar reviews, and after a short pre-order period, it's available to purchase now. You can buy directly from HTC either on the company's website or through Amazon, while Sprint will be the only carrier offering the phone in-store.

HTC U11 Review: You won’t buy this, but you should

HTC U11 Review: You won’t buy this, but you should

HTC learned the hard way that, in the cutthroat smartphone industry, you need to bring your A-game each and every time. Make a misstep and, though recovery isn't impossible, it'll cost you dearly - cash that HTC just doesn't have to splash around. The stakes are high for the HTC U11, then, and in a year packed with compelling flagships from deep-pocketed rivals it can't afford less than a surefire hit. Question is, does the U11 have what it takes?

See the HTC Link, a semi-secret Japanese VR headset with LIGHTS

The headset that's appeared today, made by HTC, won't necessarily be available to everyone in the world. In fact it's slated - for now - to be available only inside Japan. This headset was designed to fit one smartphone in the world - the HTC U11 - and will be able to roll with 6DOF (6 degrees of freedom) which is intense for a phone-based VR headset, if not entirely unique to this one.
