Honor 7x Review: This $200 phone surprised me

Over the past couple of weeks I've had the $200 smartphone Honor 7x in my pocket. This smartphone's surprised me - and not only because it's rather feature-full for its price. This phone's surprised me because it's doing what OnePlus said it'd do when they started. This smartphone goes to war with the most excellent (and far more expensive) phones in the world, and it does so without any major "me too" tricks.

Huawei’s Best Buy nightmare just got worse

Huawei's soon-to-be-estranged relationship with Best Buy could be worse than first reported, with word that not only is the retail behemoth ditching the Chinese firm's phones, but its other electronics too. Chatter began earlier this week that Best Buy planned to distance itself from Huawei's smartphones, with insiders claiming that, once the current stock on-hand was through, the retailer wasn't planning to order any more.

Huawei Honor 7C with dual front, back cameras pass by TENAA

Huawei Honor 7C with dual front, back cameras pass by TENAA

With dual cameras pretty much common fare even on some mid-range phones, OEMs seem to be moving towards the next stage of the evolution. No, not triple cameras but dual cameras both front and back. That does seem to be the case, if this new Honor phone sighting at TENAA is to be taken at face value. Believed to be the Honor 7C, this “watered-down” version of the Honor 7X appears to have one thing that the already existing model doesn’t: two cameras on the front.

This morning two devices, the second of which is this Honor 7X, were revealed in a lovely new shade of red. The Honor 7X comes with the same software inside as well as the same color as its standard edition. Huawei Honor View10 launches globally, limited Honor 7X Red for Valentines

Huawei, despite being the world’s third or so largest phone maker, still doesn’t have quite a huge foothold in some of the primary markets, like the US. Even less its sub-brand Honor. That, however, is seen as a challenge to just do better, which, to some extent, means flooding the market with model after model of smartphone. At CES, Honor revealed its plans to do exactly that, by releasing one of its latest flagship that has previously been available only in China. Yes, the premium Honor View10 is finally going global.

Huawei Honor 9 Lite launches with 18:9 screen, four cameras

Huawei Honor 9 Lite launches with 18:9 screen, four cameras

Honor might be seen as Huawei’s mid-range sub-brand but it is quickly shedding of that image. The Honor V10 and the Honor 7X before it all brought with them almost high-end specs that rivaled Huawei’s own flagships. Not everyone, however, will be able to afford those phones. Fortunately, Honor has not forgotten its core market and has announced the Honor 9 Lite which, though indeed “liter” than the Honor 9, still marks an improvement over the mid-2017 premium model.

Huawei Honor 9 Lite at TENAA shows another 18:9 phone

You know that a trend is the new black when even mid-range phones from the East start sporting it. That definitely seems to be the case with Huawei sub-brand Honor, whose latest smartphones, including the Honor V10 and the most recent Honor 7X. And it isn’t stopping there either. Spotted at TENAA is a new LLD-AL00 model that is believed to be the Honor 9 Lite due for unveiling next week. But that won’t be it’s only defining feature.

Today we're having a brief look at a series of images which capture the essence of the iPhone X and the Honor V10. NOTE: This is not a comparison of specs or performance. This is a comparison of how Apple and Huawei have chosen to represent their phones.

Honor 7X USA release date, specs aim to take on OnePlus

This week the Huawei Honor 7X was revealed with an eye on the international smartphone market. This device has a 5.93-inch 2160 x 1080 display and is coming to the USA for a cool two-hundred bucks. That caught my attention right out the gate. It would seem that Huawei's Honor brand is coming directly for the market that OnePlus just left behind.
