Pixel 5a price gets leaked weeks before launch

There has been a lot of attention lavished on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro (not XL), and perhaps rightly so. Google is long overdue a premium contender, and the Android market has long deserved a "pure" Android flagship. Not everyone, however, might be a fan of the Pixel 6's design or its rumored price tag. For these people, Google still has the Pixel 5a ready, and it is reportedly coming later this month with a price that will probably better appeal to the masses.

Pixel 4 XL get a one-year extended warranty due to battery problems

Pixel 4 XL get a one-year extended warranty due to battery problems

Despite their popularity among Android users because of their vanilla Android experience, Google's Pixel phones haven't exactly been popular for the quality of their design or manufacturing. There have been quite a number of complaints about this or that manufacturing flaw, especially with the Pixel 5's alleged "display gap." Google often downplays or refutes those concerns, but it seems it is acknowledging that the Pixel 4 XL has a battery problem and is now offering an extended warranty program because of it.

Pixel 6 XL telephoto camera could boast 5x zoom ultra tele lens

If you thought Apple was stingy when it came to camera hardware, then you may not have seen what Google has been putting on its Pixel phones. The first Google Pixel made headlines because of all the tricks it could do and the beautiful pictures it could produce with a single 12MP camera. AI and algorithms, however, could only go so far, and Google very slowly upgraded its cameras eventually. One of the biggest updates might be coming in the Pixel 6 XL, or Pro based on older leaks, that will have the line's first telephoto camera and a very powerful one at that.

Google Pixel phones with Android 11 get a new battery health feature

Battery life has become a major concern for smartphone users and manufacturers these days. While we wait for huge leaps in battery technology, most have resolved to make charging faster in the meantime. Battery charging, however, isn't a simple matter of turning something on and off like a light switch, and various conditions can actually lead to faster battery life degradation. To help prevent those scenarios, Google is implementing a new feature on supported Pixel phones that caps battery charging at 80% under certain conditions.

Google Whitechapel successor might use AMD graphics tech

One of the news that fans of Google's Pixel phones are looking forward to is the company's long-rumored self-designed processor. After Apple launched its M1 Silicon to many accolades, it seems only natural to suspect Google won't be far behind. That might come in the form of "Whitechapel," a.k.a. the GS101 (Google Silicon), which is already proving to be a mixed bag according to leaks. Those disappointed by rumors of the chip's performance might want to look forward to the future instead, with a Google chip combining Samsung's and AMD's technologies.

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 XL names accidentally confirmed by Google

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 XL names accidentally confirmed by Google

What's in a name? Depending on the context, it could mean the world, or it could mean nothing. A number denoting the generation or model of a smartphone can be critical, but, depending on how it's used, a "Pro" and an "XL" could mean the same thing anyway. That is the dichotomy that fans of Google's Pixel phones now find themselves in after the company itself accidentally revealed that the larger and potentially better-equipped Pixel 6 could be called the Pixel 6 XL after all.
