Super Nintendo World interactive online tour launched

Today the folks at Nintendo revealed an interactive online tour of their massively impressive theme park: Super Nintendo World. Starting at the front page of the park on the park's Universal Studios Japan site, the user drops in and explores the park in full 3D motion. One wonders whether the work that was put into this presentation might be flipped for use with a virtual reality presentation - how easy would that be?

Super Nintendo World Direct to show off the theme park for 15 minutes

Super Nintendo World Direct to show off the theme park for 15 minutes

Some industries were hit harder than others during this COVID-19 pandemic. Those that relied on people gathering in a single location, big or small, were some of those that got hit the hardest, and even big resorts and theme parks, like those under Disney's name, temporarily closed or let go of thousands of employees. Despite that, there are still some that try to push through, often under modified conditions, and Nintendo seems intent on showing that it's business as usual by holding a Direct live stream focused solely on its upcoming Super Nintendo World theme park.

Hades, Animal Crossing, The Last of Us Part 2 dominate 2020 Game Awards nominees

The 2020 Game Awards are coming up pretty quickly, and today Geoff Keighley announced all of the nominees up for awards during the event. The list of categories and their nominees is unsurprisingly long, and there are several games that are up for awards in a bunch of different categories. Unsurprisingly, the nominee list manages to include many of 2020's biggest names, even some of the more controversial titles that were released throughout the year.

Virtual BlizzCon event will be much more accessible than in previous years

The COVID-19 pandemic has been bad news for conventions of all kinds, and earlier this year, Blizzard announced that its yearly BlizzCon event would not only be delayed because of the pandemic, but also held entirely online. Typically, BlizzCon happens right around this time each year, at the beginning of November. Because of the pandemic, what would have been BlizzCon 2020 will now be held in February as an all online event called BlizzConline.

They’re launching a Half-Life gnome into space

The folks at Rocket Lab have teamed up with Valve's Game Newell to launch a garden gnome into space. But why? To raise money for charity, of course. For each individual person that watches the launch of said garden gnome into space, Newell will donate one dollar to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Starship. That'll be racked up during the launch live AND inside a period of 24 hours after the launch, on replay.

DJI event sure to bring Mavic and/or Mini action this week

Today DJI revealed that they'd be running an event this week where they'll reveal a new drone. Part of the event seems to be focused on the DJI Store APP, which is available for Android and iOS devices now. The image used for this event is... not helpful. It features three boys holding an oversized paper airplane, walking in a desert near a sign that says DON'T PANIC. That's almost certainly a reference to the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which also features the words DON'T PANIC printed in large bold letters on its front.

The Apple news I’m most excited about today won’t get mentioned on stage

I'm excited about today's Apple event not because of the products they'll announce. It's not because there'll be a new family of iPhone 12 products, not because there'll be a new HomePod. It's not even because there'll be a few new iPhone colors, colors we've not seen in an iPhone ever before! I'm excited about what'll happen behind the scenes.

iPhone 12 mini leaks tease 10 years of nostalgic dreams

The next small-size iPhone won't be the cheapest iPhone in the world, nor will it be the most impressive. Instead, the rumored so-called iPhone 12 mini may deliver the compromise sought by fans of the most iconic Apple smartphone of all: iPhone 4. As the iPhone SE (2020) did away with the retro look of the first iPhone SE, that missing look and feel may well appear in the device with "mini" in the name.
