Here’s why Epic disabled the Fortnite BRUTE mech suit

Late on Friday, Epic Games suddenly disabled its controversial BRUTE mech suit, returning its battle royale game to the version players prefer and have been demanding since the vehicle arrived with Season X. The removal is only temporary as noted by the alert in the game's lobby, but has persisted for more than 14 hours by this point with no return in sight. The company vaguely referred to the removal as being due to an issue with the suit's air stomp ability.

It's called the Shield Bubble, and it gives you a place to take refuge from gunfire and explosives. It isn't entirely impenetrable though, so even when taking cover within it, you're not completely safe.

At long last, Fortnite’s BRUTE mechs have been nerfed

If there's been a running theme to Fortnite season X so far, it's been "everybody hates the BRUTE mechs." While you'd be hard pressed to find someone who'd complain about rideable mechs in general, the way BRUTEs have been implemented has led players to complain that they're oppressively overpowered. Epic has tried to tweak the BRUTE at various points throughout the season, but complaints of the mechs being OP persisted.

The free games offered through the Epic Games Store have rotated once again, and this week, the game on offer is Fez.
