ROLI Seaboard RISE Review

ROLI Seaboard RISE Review

ROLI's Seaboard RISE looks like something you'd find Darth Vader playing in his downtime on the Death Star, but it uses the force in far more interesting ways. The company's first product was the much-lauded Seaboard GRAND back in 2013. That debuted the company's unusual flexible "keywave" surface, a layer which could be prodded and poked into delivering not only individual notes but smooth glissandos, complex evolving sounds, and more.

Apple TV Review (2015): Living with big-screen Siri

Apple TV Review (2015): Living with big-screen Siri

Shouting back at the TV used to be frowned upon; now, with the fourth-generation Apple TV, Apple is positively encouraging it. The Cupertino firm's take on the future of the living room has released Siri from its iPhone and iPad prison, while a new remote, access to the App Store, and beefier specifications promise a slicker and more flexible experience. I've been living with the revamped set-top box for the past six weeks, to see just how much of an upgrade this is.

E-TWOW Review: regenerative electric kick scooter on point

E-TWOW Review: regenerative electric kick scooter on point

Over the past few weeks we've been testing out the 33V Booster E-TWOW electric kick scooter. This device isn't the sort of vehicle you're going to hear about on the news or see rolling around your neighborhood, more than likely - the company just isn't that massive - yet. Based on what we've experienced with this tiny vehicle, it's easy to recommend it as one of the most fun-to-use examples of urban transport out on the market today. No gasoline required.

Devialet Phantom Review – Delectable French aural oddness

Devialet Phantom Review – Delectable French aural oddness

Devialet’s Phantom resembles something from Portal, has audiophiles by turns fuming or fawning, and squeezes up to 3,000W into a casing some physicists say shouldn’t work. The first all-in-one music system from the polarizing French firm, Phantom’s odd looks are, Devialet claims, merely the side-product of its homegrown pressurized drivers and hybridized analog/digital amplifiers. That means the big story is in the sound, but can this sci-fi prop of a speaker really be worth its $2k price tag?

Xbox One TV Tuner Review

Xbox One TV Tuner Review

The following review is of two devices, combined making the Xbox One capable of running over-the-air digital TV. The first item is the Hauppauge digital TV Tuner for Xbox One. The second is the Mohu Leaf 50 antenna. These two devices are what's needed to pick up TV - if you're not about to pay cash for your local major cable provider and want to enjoy over-the-air TV right alongside gaming content on your Xbox One. While the process of purchase might be odd, the result is excellent.

At long last, LEGO's mini-dolls collection of brick sets gets its day in the sun with Frozen. Here we're having a peek at Elsa's Sparking Ice Castle, a set you're only going to find in the pink-colored aisle of your local department store's toy section. While this environment is generally limited to hair salons, restaurants, gardens, houses, and pools, this set brings the heat with a tower made of ice. It comes with unique pieces, shiny stickers, and Olaf the snowman.

Amazon Fire TV Stick Review – A Prime no-brainer

Amazon Fire TV Stick Review – A Prime no-brainer

Amazon may have been late to the streaming box game with the Fire TV, but the retail behemoth isn’t letting that initial tardiness hold it back, following up with an even more affordable way to bring on-demand content to your living room. The Amazon Fire TV Stick comes in at just $39, undercutting Roku and just a few dollars more than Google’s Chromecast, and offers - in broad strokes at least - the same multimedia prospect as its more expensive sibling. At less than half the price of a Fire TV, though, have so many corners been cut as to suddenly leave Jeff Bezos’ dongle unsatisfying? Read on for the full review.
