OnePlus Concept One revealed with color-shifting glass

Today a new OnePlus Concept One was revealed at CES 2020. This device is essentially a modified OnePlus 7T Pro (effectively) with a leather back* and some electrochromatic glass over its camera lenses. This is a system that'll at least change the way we see how the back-facing cameras on a smartphone are handled - if not the way we expect smartphone glass to be used entirely.

Insta360 ONE R is a modular action cam with interchangeable lens mods

Insta360 ONE R is a modular action cam with interchangeable lens mods

360-degree videos have become fashionable these days, even without the virtual reality factor, because of how they enable recording everything for manual editing and cutting later. Due to size constraints, sensors in most 360 cameras are often less than what you could get if there was only one sensor pointing in one direction. This forces consumers to make an upfront choice about what to buy or what to use for a specific occasion. What if you didn't have to choose? What if you could have all of those and switch between them at a moment's notice like you would switch lenses on a regular camera? That is exactly what Insta360 is promising with the Insta360 ONE R, delivering a 360-degree lens, a 4K wide-angle lens, and a 1-inch Wide-Angle sensor all in one bundle.

Level Lock gives your existing deadbolt a secret smart upgrade

Smart home security is one of the hardest things to get started on, though smart security cameras have recently started making installation a lot easier. Smart door locks, however, still present a major hurdle because they often require you to replace your existing lock with something that may not fit your door or its design. That's the genius behind Level "invisible" Lock that actually hides inside your existing deadbolt, allowing you to keep your old lock while still gaining the benefits of a phone-controlled smart lock.

Western Digital brings pocket-sized 8TB SSD prototype and more to CES 2020

The way we create and consume media these days has pretty much changed the way we store and retrieve data. Intel Horseshoe Bend prototype turns a 17-inch tablet into a 13-inch laptop

Contrary to earlier whispers, Intel wasn't shying away from foldable PCs because it found Windows 10X to still be unsuitable for the public's eyes. It did skip mentioning Microsoft's future Windows version but the CES 2020 crowd might not yet care about that, at least for now. They may be more interested in seeing foldable devices and Intel definitely had some to show, including its own take on a gigantic OLED screen that folds down into a more manageable laptop size.

LIFX introduces new smart lighting solutions and a new app experience

Back when the whole IoT industry was still at its infancy, the easiest way to get started in making home smarter was through smart bulbs like the Philips Hue. Today, the smart lighting section of that market is a little too congested, leaving players to come up with new ideas to make their brand known. LIFX stands somewhere in that crowd and is now expanding its lineup to include classic looking bulbs and a smart switch that can be controlled with the new LIFX mobile app.

No, AMD didn’t just reveal the Xbox Series X ports

It isn't yet time for Microsoft to truly show off its next-gen console but, thanks to a few well-placed teasers, we now know a few details about the upcoming Xbox Series X. No, we still don't know for sure what Microsoft's naming and marketing strategy will be but we can at least confirm some of the hardware capabilities that will be included when the console does launch, at least based on unofficial information.
