Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream hands-on: VR and the camera to shoot it

Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream hands-on: VR and the camera to shoot it

Right now there are two main types of virtual reality headsets, ones that are tethered to PCs and ones that need a smartphone to work. Either way, such headsets are beholden to another device running the show, which also prevents users from accessing said devices normally. Standalone VR headsets have long been a dream but, as far as Google’s Daydream platform is concerned, that almost failed to take shape. Lenovo has, fortunately, come to the rescue with the new Mirage Solo with Daydream standalone headset that promises freedom in more ways than one.

Bell Helicopter air taxi shown at CES 2018 with AR sim

Bell Helicopter brought their new air taxi cabin design to CES 2018, bringing with it a hefty claim. They suggested that they are the first major helicopter manufacturer to exhibit at CES, ever. I genuinely hope this spurs interest in bringing other hereto unseen exhibitioners to CES 2019 - Think
sword-smiths, jet ski manufacturers, chocolatiers - everything we've never seen before!

August Access battles Amazon Key for in-home delivery

August Access battles Amazon Key for in-home delivery

Back at the end of October, Amazon revealed a new service called Key. With Amazon Key, you can schedule in-home delivery using a specific smart lock offered as part of the service, thereby preventing your packages from being stolen while they wait on your front porch. A service like Amazon Key has been suggested and even rumored for almost as long as smart locks have been a thing, so it should come as no surprise that we're seeing competitors spring up before Amazon Key really gets off the ground.

Misfit Path hybrid smartwatch brings the minimalism of a classic

Misfit Path hybrid smartwatch brings the minimalism of a classic

Despite their technological versatility and utility, smartwatches haven’t completely taken the market by storm the way their smartphone cousins have. This can be blamed on many things, particularly the complexity of these smartwatches and the heft that comes with it. Hybrid smartwatches have popped up in an attempt to blend the classic analog design with some smart tracking features, but some of them still teeter over the border. The new Misfit Path nearly throws away all doubt of its classic timeless design, but, as they say, looks can be deceiving.

Alcatel to bring 18:9 screens to all 2018 tiers

Although not exactly one of the most talked-about smartphone brand, Alcatel, is, perhaps, one of the oldest that still remains in use today. That despite changing owners a couple of times. It has stayed in the race, but hasn’t exactly gained headway over the past years, with its devices commonly associated with mid-tier products. The new year is an opportunity to start anew and Alcatel is redefining its design for 2018, employing a new language that, among other things, will put 18:9 screens on all tiers, whether flagship, mid-range, or entry level.
