Microsoft and Canon have inked a new patent sharing deal, but before you yawn and roll over, the agreement could well make for even stronger PureView camera technology on future Windows Phones. The two firms have already joined forces on select R&D in the past, but the new collaboration covers "certain digital imaging and mobile consumer products" according to Microsoft.

Canon has rolled out several new digital cameras today and among them are three new compact Elph cameras. The new cameras include the Canon PowerShot Elph 150 IS, 140 IS, and 135. Canon promises that all three of the cameras will capture high-quality images and 720p resolution video.
Among the other cameras Canon has unveiled tonight, the camera maker has taken the wraps off its new PowerShot G1 X Mark II, an update over the previous model that offers photographers a compact body with a larger-than-average image sensor and 12.8-megapixels.
