Audi R8 e-tron production ends with less than 100 made

The Audi R8 e-tron is a unicorn of a car. It was officially available only in Europe and you couldn't configure one using the online configurator for all other R8 models. Anyone that wandered into an R8 dealership and asked to order was sent to someone at the Audi factory to complete the process. The result is a car that was made in very small quantities and a car that has been discontinued.

2017 Audi A4 allroad First Drive: Wunderwagon

2017 Audi A4 allroad First Drive: Wunderwagon

For a nation so addicted to crossovers and SUVs, it's perverse that Audi had to get sneaky to make America swallow its wagon medicine. The 2017 Audi A4 allroad keeps to the Avant-with-attitude ethos of previous generations, but introduces a brand new quattro all-wheel drive system that the German automaker expects to go down very well among what has traditionally been a fairly niche allroad audience.

Audi RS 3 Sedan, customer race car break cover in Paris

Hot on the heels of the 2018 Audi Q5 unveiled at the Paris Motor Show are two new Audi RS models. Sticking true to their “RS” brand, the two have high performance within their cross hairs. One is even an honest to goodness race car. The Audi RS 3 this year, however, is stirring things up a bit by introducing the first Audi compact sedan to bear the “Rennsport” moniker. Truly more RS than its A3 sedan predecessor, the Audi RS 3 Sedan oozes performance both without and within, boasting of no less than 400 horsepower.

With 2018 Audi S5 and A5, the “Sportback” we desire

With 2018 Audi S5 and A5, the “Sportback” we desire

Audi has been holding out on North America, so far keeping the hatchback charms of the A5 and S5 to itself in Europe, but all that changes with the 2018 model year. Finally headed to US shores in 2017, the 2018 A5 and S5 are each sleeker versions of the A4 and S5, switching the sedan styling for a far more practical - and, to many eyes, more handsome - hatch at the rear.

Audi breaks luxury ranks with unusual 2017 A4 manual

At a time when manual gearboxes in the US are more commonly associated with base-trim cars, Audi is bucking the trend with a version of the 2017 A4 that eschews the automatic. The company has confirmed that there'll be a manual A4 quattro in its model year 2017 line-up, with a redesigned six-speed gearbox that promises to be both smoother and faster than the outgoing version.

2017 Audi Q7 3.0T quattro Review: Seven seat excess

2017 Audi Q7 3.0T quattro Review: Seven seat excess

If there's something clearly pathological about my attraction to vast, luxury SUVs despite having neither the family nor the lifestyle to demand them, I can probably take solace in the fact that a large chunk of America feels the same way. Audi's 2017 Q7 will do nothing to dissuade either them or I, redesigned from the ground up from its strong-selling predecessor and making a pitch as the most technologically advanced SUV this side of a considerably more expensive Tesla Model X.

The 2016 Ford Focus RS takes on 3 Rivals in High Performance compact showdown

The 2016 Ford Focus RS stands at the pinnacle of the American hot hatch landscape, a turbocharged high performance marvel that brings with it a history of dominance in the European market. Of course, with Subaru no longer producing a hatchback version of its venerable STI and Mazda long having put the Mazdaspeed3 out to pasture, there's really only one other boy-racer compact hatch around with the specs to tackle the RS head-on: the Volkswagen Golf R.

Audi traffic light connected cars get green light for fall launch

Audi's A8 will be the first Level 3 autonomous car to hit the market, coming in 2018, but before then the German automaker plans to push live traffic light alerts directly to the dashboard of select models this year. The new Audi Traffic Light Information system will switch on this fall, and is expected to operate across as many as seven US cities by the end of this year, to try to dilute some of the frustration when you're waiting for the lights to change, as well as encourage you to keep your phone in your pocket and the traffic flow moving.

Audi aims to offer three electric vehicles by 2020

Audi plans to offer a trio of electric vehicles by the year 2020, according to company CEO Rupert Stadler. These electric cars, if everything goes as planned, will make up between 25-percent and 30-percent of the auto maker’s sales by the year 2025, a big goal that underscores Audi’s push into the electric vehicle market. Stadler reportedly announced this plan to Audi managers some time last week, and more recently discussed the matter to a German newspaper. In addition to launching electric vehicles, Audi is also said to be planning an autonomous vehicle to be developed under a subsidiary named SDS Company.
